Previously i just discovered that ALFA AWUS036AXML only doing 2.4ghz while it certainly can do 5ghz in monitor mode
but now it doesnt detect easily
switching port did fix the detection issues but it sitll not doing 5ghz in monitor mode

wet frost
#

give me the vendor id and hwid

do lsusb; lspci and post it here

fast trail
#

iight

wet frost
#

oh ALFA AWUS036AXML is the router
no driver is needed on the linux side to connect to router

#

what needs a driver is the wireless controller

#

your wireless controller is
04:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wi-Fi 6 AX200 (rev 1a)

fast trail
#

not this

#

its the wifi adapter

#

mediatek

wet frost
#

your lspci and lsusb don't show any mediatek

#

wait there is

fast trail
#

there is

wet frost
#

what's your kernel version?

fast trail
#

how do i check

wet frost
#

uname -r

fast trail
#

uname -r
6.6.26-1-lts

#

its new

#

prob latest

#

wait also you got banned from controversial

#

being too controversial?

#

@wet frost

wet frost
fast trail
#

what

wet frost
#

it's old
we're at 6.8.5 now

fast trail
#

no wonder i had issues

#

fuck

wet frost
#

lts is specifically a kernel editoin that doesn't update much

fast trail
#

urghhh

wet frost
#

in arch the package is linux-lts

fast trail
#

that wifi adapter is quite recent

#

no wonder

#

pacman -S linux-lts?

wet frost
#

no, you have linux-lts which is the old one

fast trail
#

uh

wet frost
#

use linux or linux-zen to get the latest kernel version

fast trail
#

ah

wet frost
#

then make your bootloader load that kernel

fast trail
#

ight

#

how do i do it

#

wait

#

its already updated

#

but not sure why its only showing

wet frost
#

give me bootctl

fast trail
#

uname -r
6.6.26-1-lts
