Let me get ethernet and I'll install it
Works
How to install xfce
easy one
do u want bare metal XFCE
or with some extra plugins
here u have the diference
bare metal: https://archlinux.org/groups/x86_64/xfce4/
Bare metal
with extra plugins: https://archlinux.org/groups/x86_64/xfce4-goodies/
so do sudo pacman -S xfce4
when done do sudo pacman -S xorg xorg-xinit
.
this is the graphic server
How to enter xfce
do u want to start xfce4 manually on the console or with a display manager
display manager is this:
for example
i usually start manually on the terminal but its is at ur choice
What's the difference?
no difference
both ways ends up in the same
for example in my case i prefer starting it manually on the tty cause sometimes i just need to boot up linux for a simple task like formatting a usb so i do not need to enter a graphic environment
Manually then
its matter of liking
I dont think we will use much de
if u prefer the other way its absolutely right
Wait, let me find my keyboard
to start xfce4 manually u will use a command called startx
I'm using laptop and I dont like it's keyboard
which starts XORG manually
fine
for this u need two simple files in ur User's home
sudo cp -v /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc /home/User/.xinitrc
sudo cp -v /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc /home/User/.xserverrc
these commands are used to copy the templates located in /etc
to ur home
Done
now this one sudo cp -v /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc /home/User/.xserverrc
when done open .xinitrc
located in ur home
Done
My phone ran out of battery
no worry
Yes I do
Resend me the commands of copying
My phone sucks
Takes a second to write a letter
sudo cp -v /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc /home/User/.xserverrc
sudo cp -v /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc /home/User/.xinitrc
Ignore that neofetch
Yeah it has stuff
Yes
My phone is charging in other room, I'm moving constantly, let's wait so it gets a bit charged
Ok cya
I'm back
ok
.
ok so now remove the last 5 lines
just after "fi"
and when removed type
exec startxfce4
save the file
and now u can start xfce4 with startx command
for powering off:
power off from xfce4 or typing poweroff in the terminal
when the pc is off
remove the usb
Ok got it
not before cause u can corrupt it
