Firefox works fine. for testing, directory is owned by user and user group, permissions rwx. Yes, using firefox is an alternative, but I would like a fix for this issue as well.

Only output in terminal is this:

Gtk-Message: 03:34:57.716: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged.

(process:677989): Gtk-WARNING **: 03:34:59.219: Attempting to add 'file:///home/hearth/travelpics/savedamnit.avif' to the list of recently used resources, but no name of the application that is registering it was defined

On wayland + hyprland, chromium v. 122.0.6261.94-1, xdg-desktop-portal-hyprland is installed.

Not sure how else I can get at logs/what info would be helpful.

What actually happens when trying to save:

  1. Right click image -> save as.
  2. File browser pops up. Not thunar, it's some default thing. Looks a bit like nautilus, works even if nautilus isn't installed.
  3. Name it whatever, pick folder. Hit save.
  4. Nothing happens. No error, no weird visual artefacts, nada.

Thanks for any help 👍

I guess I will for now. I am a bit concerned long-term though with the recent ublock cat and mouse. I usually watch youtube with mpv, but still...

I will try the ungoogled version too, I didn't want to compile it but it seems there are repos with -bin packages out there.

#

I only started using it over firefox because some stuff I need pretty regularly is currently borked in ff

#

ah ok an ungoogled build doesn't work either.

#

ok for some mysterious reason it has started working again.

there was a while in 2023 when I was affected by the cat and mouse on firefox too which I hadn't really seen before that point

#

came and went pretty quickly mind

has it? I mean, in browser user share and other areas relating to privacy sure.
but ublock specifically? I have no issues blocking ads on youtube when I do opt to use a browser over mpv.
