#Poweroff is restarting the computer
33 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
It doesn't work for me all the time tho, sometimes my pc restarts anyways
However it did help
For sure @polar ice ! Any idea why it would happen after an upgrade? It was fine for 2 years?
And also why isnt it happening from Windows?
No clue tbh, but i assume linux doesn't know how to shut down new amd cpu's properly or make it go to deep sleep
Cuz i doubt it is a gpu issue
Maybe linux 6.7 will do it properly as it has some amd patch notes
But just speculating
Hmm interesting
Will check release notes and the setting soon
Thanks again yo! Ill update here how it goes!
did you install the appropriate drivers for the GPU? and reinstalled the kernel as a safety measure?
I'm more inclined to think it's not the UEFI at play here but that linux is not completely aware of all the new changes
I installed amdgpu along with mesa for hardware acceleration. The gpu is being used correctly so I dunno what this is
And im still confused why Windows can shutdown properly but linux is always restarting. I'll try the Bios setting Werlon mentioned soon, hopefully thats it 🤞
is it a BIOS or UEFI?
there's a difference, I know if you're old school and still use BIOS for both it's fine but in this case those terms matter
that's one way to trigger my PTSD lol
yes that's always been a setup of it's on
if your PC is recent, UEFI is more common
Hey folks. I do not have a deep sleep option in BIOS. Also checked wake on LAN and nothing
does shutdown or systemctl shutdown do the same thing?
systemctl shutdown is not a real thing
systemctl poweroff is that command
oh, didnt know that
I do not use systemd 😦
Try it though @orchid dew
There's no systemctl in my computer since it's a systemd lib
your tag says arch, my understanding is that it comes with an installation by default
Ah makes sense yo
