Pentium i3 some gen
After this
different name?
it should still be /boot/grub/grub.cfg
instead of grub.conf mirza.conf
If not then?
where did you read that
On arch
I thought I can name as I want
you shouldn't be able to cuz then the bootloader wouldn't know what file to look for and where
you can remove your other config
Got stuck at loading
👍
Okay
This will be my grub config file right?
?
no
that video isn't doing grub
it's doing systemd-boot which is UEFI only
you only need 3 steps to do grub
pacman -S grub
grub-install /dev/sda
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
I asked that can me my config file?
and you are done
no
that is a systemd-boot config
use the grub-mkconfig command
and you are done
So should I rm that?
send me the contents of your boot directory
Just now I copied the grub into that dir
Should I rm this??
yes
Whole dir em?
Your boot directory should look like this
but without the EFI folder
and with intel-ucode instead of amd-ucode
basically the only folder under /boot should be the grub one
This /boot/loader/entries/arch.conf ?
omg
stop
following
the video
it uses systemd-boot
remove the /boot/loader folder
and ls the contents of /boot
and send a screenshot
sudo rm -rf /boot/loader
then do grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
and nothing else
you are done
continue following the wiki after this
not the video
the rest of it is setting up nvidia drivers
actually you may need to download NetworkManager if you haven't already
for wifi
ok
you also have the bootloader
so I think you are done
try exit and then reboot
and remove the usb cuz it may boot you into the arch usb again
What's my windows env?
none
Then?
you can set that up after you make sure you can use the terminal and internet without the usb
the terminal
Ohkk there by I can follow hyprland
if arch boots and the internet also works you can use pacman -S <window-manager/desktop-environment>
yeah
reboot first though
if the internet doesn't work but arch boots you'll need to put back the usb, boot into it and remount the partitions (WITHOUT formatting them again of course)
and then arch-chroot back into /mnt
then you can troubleshoot to fix your network
Should I umount before reboot
no need to
just type reboot
after you use exit in chroot
Remove usb now?
do it when you see your laptop completely shuts off
or you see the manufacturer screen
wait
if nothing happens in 30 seconds you've messed something up
I removed usb when my screen went blank
did you do it before arch finished shutting down
That get shutdown
When it was reopening i did
I am not sure what you did but try holding your power button
and restart it
make sure the usb isn't on
when you reboot
Can I shutdown and start up again??
uh ok
put the usb back in
shut down
and boot back into the usb
then mount your partitions like how you did last time
(WITHOUT going into fdisk and formatting them)
What?
mount the partitions
step 1.11 of the arch wiki
skip to there
do not remake the boot folder again though obviously
cuz it already exists
you did not boot into the usb
press the boot options key
it may be esc
F12
F11
while you are in the bios
so you need to restart again basically
I did bro
and you selected the usb?
It's not booting in arch getting that old error msg
what old error
boot arch linux from iso
It's getting off
wdym
Getting turn off after this
