I will say here that the election was a success, even though there's still some stuff to sort through and I could maybe get a couple more people out of the last round of polling, I don't really have the time, energy, or motivation to do that right now. in the end, the goal was 5-10 new mods. I finished the election with 5 new mods promoted and 6 new helpful users.

I do believe I promised I would release all materials used in the election process when I finished it.

considering that at this point I have no plans to continue working on it, I'll go ahead and do so.

I've decided against releasing the internal poll I mentioned because in the end it was not used to make any decisions, as nobody on the staff team filled it out properly.

all candidates that are highlighted were ran through in mod chat and interviewed if we decided to consider them seriously. the sole exception was electron271/ave, who was unanimously supported by the staff team and was just promoted immediately, though they ultimately left the team for personal reasons.

you may notice a slight discrepancy between the poll results and the spreadsheet. this is because any submissions that did not follow the two sentence instructions at the beginning of the poll were removed.

I do intend to run a 2024 election earlier in the year if I can make time, but I do intend to wait until we have a better solution worked out for polling. Cryptpad got the job done but in the end was easily abused and made processing the resulting data a tedious manual process, even with an exported csv.

  • add more security measures to prevent trolls

the hope is that we'll eventually have a way to do HU nominations continuously and a method for election polling that is linked to discord accounts and thus not as easily abused.

in order to do this we should 1st have a team go through all of the server meta suggestions (including old and denied ones) for a second assessment, ask for more suggestions from community, and look into suggestions by moderators/hus

unfortunately my schedule is about to get stuffed with a full time college schedule next year and I have holidays to worry about for the rest of the month so I'm not going to be able to do too much to help anymore

we rely on suggestions here in #1006744879583461418, and as far as activities and events go, any community member is welcome to set something up in #event-planning . while you do need at least HU level perms to set an event up, anyone who does not have perms can ask someone who does to set things up, and helping run evens regularly is also likely to result in being promoted to HU
