I had made a live boot arch usb using rufus, but i encountered troubles for which i was suggested that i may use some other application to create an iso. Now, the usb has became write protected and i have no idea how to fix it, is there a way i can fix this?

Dosent matter

#

Burn it anyways

#

I use etcher

#

Many people dont reccomend it many people do

#

You remove the write protection by gdisking it

#

That's what I did

#

Then make it into fat 32 format

woven perch
#

I will try that

#

To find the block of your usb use lsblk

#

Have you made an arch iso yet?

woven perch
#

it has an arch iso but i couldn't type anything in tts so i was told to reinstall it

#

to do that i need to remove the write protection which i will try doing through etcher

last breach
#

You dont need to

#

Etcher does it automatically

woven perch
#

I don't seem to quite get what you mean

last breach
#

Never used etcher before?

#

I mean you dont have to remove write protection, etcher would do that automatically when burning archiso in

#

It's very easy to use

woven perch
#

Ah, for now i need to just remove the write protection and format the usb completely

#

i would install the iso later on

last breach
#

Oh, if then etcher wont help

woven perch
#

oh.

last breach
#

Are you free right now?

woven perch
#

I am indeed free right now.

last breach
#

Plug in the usb to your device

#

You are using windows right?

woven perch
#

yeah

#

plugged in

last breach
#

Open explorer

#

If that's what its called

#

I forgot

#

The files app

woven perch
#

yeah

last breach
#

In there locate your usb and go to properties

woven perch
#

now i am guessing i should try to format?

last breach
woven perch

woven perch
#

if i try to format, it just says this

last breach
#

Uncheck that and now it's no longer write protected

last breach
#

It would be there if it was a file

#

Gimmi a sec

woven perch
#

yeah sure

last breach
#

My idea was using diskpart

#

Removing the entire volume of the usb

#

And making a new one with fat32

#

I know how to do this in linux, windows is the tricky part

#

Lemme read a sec

woven perch
#

i think i have tried that

#

it did not work

last breach
#

I'll come back in 5 min, I have to go for maghrib prayer

woven perch
#

for diskpart, if i recall correctly, it was a cmd program and i tried it but it did not work

last breach
#

There are other apps that could do this easily but are mostly paid

woven perch
#

sure

last breach
blissful ridge
#

so you there?

#

im the guy above btw

#

on my pc tho

#

@woven perch

#

open disk management

#

then open cmd on administrater

#

type diskpart

#

then select the volume of your usb

#

by typing ' select volume (the number your arch is in)

#

to find which volume your arch is in refer disk management, and then type volume list, if you find it similar in storage then thats it. select that

#

i have a easier but more time consuming way tho

#

there is more after this which all explain when you are online

last breach
#

Yes one idea is making a live boot of gparted, another idea is making a live boot of arch

#

Both are the same but you tell which you prefer

#

I'll be back in 30 min and explain how to

Do you have linux? It's easier there for me

woven perch
#

automatically

blissful ridge
#

We can do diskpart

#

Are you ready right now??

woven perch
#

Okay yeah

#

Ping me when online and I'll try to be on pc then

blissful ridge
#

can we do it right now?

woven perch
blissful ridge
#

les go

#

check if you still have the love boot in the usb by booting into it

woven perch
#

just let me get my drive

woven perch
blissful ridge
#

oh i see

woven perch
#

i was told by someone it might be a rufus and problem and should use something else

blissful ridge
#

no probs we can do diskpart as i have done it before now

woven perch
#

should i check

blissful ridge
#

nah its alr

#

open windows

woven perch
#

done

#

cmd?

blissful ridge
#

yes

#

administative

woven perch
#

typing diskpart to run diskpart

blissful ridge
#

yes

#

then type "list disk"

#

and find the device you wanna use, you may know from its storage

woven perch
#

ok yeah its disk 1

blissful ridge
#

select Disk 1

woven perch
#

done

blissful ridge
#

list disk again

#

woven perch
#

woven perch
woven perch
blissful ridge
#

woven perch
#

#

blissful ridge
#

after that reboot

woven perch
#

write protected

#

should i still reboot

blissful ridge
#

back to diskpart

woven perch
#

mhm

blissful ridge

woven perch
#

well well look who it is

#

:<

blissful ridge
#

#

try rebooting

#

do you have a different usb slot?

woven perch
#

actually can i come back in about ~30 minutes

#

i have to go right now

woven perch
#

i am guessing you want me to try the same but different slot?

blissful ridge
blissful ridge
#

by slot i mean like on the other side of the pc

#

if its on right then try the left slot

woven perch
#

hi

woven perch
#

now tying rebooting

woven perch
blissful ridge
woven perch
#

i tried rufus but write protected

#

or do you have any idea if it would be able to get fixed or is just broken

blissful ridge
#

They it if youd like

#

It's very straight forward

blissful ridge
#

With the added fact that every app thinks its write protected

#

Etcher was able to break write protection in my usb probably because etcher made the write protection in the first place

#

No idea

#

Give it a try tho
