so i've been trying to get kitty working and when i set the display env to :0 it gives me this error: X11: failed to open display :0 something on the lines of that. the computer that i'm running it on has only 1 monitor so how can i figure out how to set it properly?

there was an error before that basically saying couldn't find env DISPLAY but i created it, and set it to :0.
any1?

sorry if this sounds stupid but even the basic information is required, are you actually in a UI?

if yes, what UI? it may be using Wayland exclusively

no i don't have a desktop env yet

then get it

the error is caused by the X server not running

#

and in order to get an X server running your best option is to install a DE

or a WM

#

or any UI that uses Xorg

So make sure you get XWayland

I believe it can run under Wayland natively, but I may be wrong

You don’t need to uninstall and reinstall kitty. Just install and run a graphical environment to use graphical applications like kitty.
