#os prober being stupid

when i try os prober it pops up with no result, windows isn't dead as i can still access it in the file manager
alrigth.
are you running os-prober in the installer?
if yes, finish the install, boot into arch normally (not from usb), login, mount your EFI partition as /boot and run os-proberagain
if you are not on the installer, make sure to mount your EFI partiion on /boot, and try again
have you mounted while you ran
assuming youre on efi, make sure you mount windows boot manager
why specifically /boot
I usually use /boot, and i know it works with os-prober once you boot into arch
oh, i would just use /mnt because thats meant for mounting
well i think a few things would automatically install what they need onto /boot, and wouldn't recognize it on /mnt
mkinitcpio -p or pacman -S linux for example
i see
but also
for most, just one esp with kernel is impossible on windows/linux dual boot
windows 10 installer does not have enough space for it
so you would either not mount to /boot or you would have multiple esps
i digress
You can mount it anywhere
You don’t need to modify it or anything, os-prober just needs to know it exists
for this reason, it's best to create an ESP before the windows installer does, since it only makes 100MiB
in my experience, 512MiB has been enough for both Windows and Linux with kernel
