Tried to install arch and on reboot to attempt to boot in, it loaded a menu that said something to the effect of "load into firmware" and letting either the auto selection clock tick down or selecting the actual option sent me to my bios screen. As well, trying to open my actual boot menu by restarting my computer and hitting F12 results in that same menu that sends me to my bios. During the install I used the systemd bootloader through bootctl install and had both the basic vmlinuz-linux.img and the intell microcode lines in my initrd section of what was my boot entries directory. I truly have no clue as to what caused this

Verify that your bootloader is installed correctly on a FAT32 partition. This is caused by a missing/broken bootloader.
What part specifically is caused by that? The broken boot menu or the firmware menu selection upon trying bott the Linux manager from BIOS
Both; they’re likely symptoms of the same issue
Hopefully I'll get it right on this go round of the install
You shouldn’t need to fully reinstall, just the bootloader needs fixed.
I had attempted to load into the actual drive by unmounting, rebooting, and removing the USB i was using to install. WhennI put the USB back in, the only thing that had saved were the partitions written to the drive
I don't believe the data saved, I attempted to open my boot loader entries directory and it said it didn't exist
Then yea you might need to fully reinstall
You probably forgot to mount your partitions or did so incorrectly.
I currently am, I'm waiting on rankmirrors to finish
I put the initial /mnt into my root partitions and then made a /mnt/boot and /mnt/home directory that I put into my boot and home partitions respectively
Good
And I've done that already on this install
Ok, just making sure.
My rankmirrors is going mad slow, you got any tips on how I could get it going right?
It's been sitting trying to rank the mirrors for like 20 minutes at this point
I'll try it again tomorrow or something, this shit is mad confusing. I'll try it by the manual next time instead of Mutahar's video
huh
i cant do it
i installed with iso
arch install wont work
just errors
just manual
install
Yea, use the installation guide on the wiki, not videos.
Would typing mkfs.fat -F32 cause any sever issues instead of mkfs.fat -F 32
Is DHCPCD only for ethernet connections? I saw on a post on the arch forums that it'll work if you have an rj45 connection, which is evidently a type of ethernet cable
I believe they are the same. I’ve always used the latter because that’s what the wiki uses.
I'm going to retry the weekend after this one and let you know any issues/questions I face during the install
Ok
Using an arch install video to get step by step instructions for parts where that isn't given in the arch install guide is a decent/common practice for new users yeah?
The whole timedatectl stuff can be skipped and done once there's a working GUI yeah?
