#[SOLVED] No audio on new installation
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
i don't really know but did you installed wireplumber ?
aighty
Also in https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PipeWire usage section .. you have to enable systemd units
as for wireplumber
also install pipewire pipewire-pulse pipewire-alsa pipewire-jack
yeah done that
then enable user services for wireplumber pipewire and pipewire-pulse
oh I didn't enable wireplumber service
this and linux-firmware are necessary
Try rebooting once as you just installed wireplumber
because there are drivers needed for prop hardware
sof-firmware are for onboard audio
I should probably enable the service first
systemctl enable wireplumber.service returns does not exist
What i usually do is watch some vudeo along with following arch wiki
Good .. glad i could help
should I expect a restart to be necessary before it'll work
no, a relog should do it
Not really sure .. but do it just in case
oh yeah relog
enable --now enables it for next restart and starts it now
systemctl --user start <service>
Whats that ? A short summay .. google didnt returned anything
relogging from tty via exit or display manager, most of the things don't need a reboot
Ohk ... never heard this term before .. nice
okay another thing, pipewire pulse service also doesn't exist, even with --user
From wiki
Install pipewire-pulse. It will replace pulseaudio and pulseaudio-bluetooth. Reboot, re-login or stop pulseaudio.service and start the pipewire-pulse.service user unit to see the effect.
Normally, no further action is needed, as the user service pipewire-pulse.socket should be enabled automatically by the package.
oh well I've already rebooted since installing that
so I guess I'm supposed to be good
still no audio though
But you still have to start the pipewire-pulse.servixe
There are two tyoe of units .. system level and user level
You generally have to look into readme which command it takes
still no audio
I also checked the service status and it was running fine
pactl info?
Sorry i dont know anything further ...
maybe see this and follow wiki or someone here can help .. i am also new so really dont know that much

looks like the issue i had
move /etc/pipewire to somewhere else you can remember, and reinstall pipewire, check if /etc/pipewire exists again
relog and see if that works
can't remember where the config was
just the pipewire package?
yis
systemctl --user restart pipewire
systemctl --user restart wireplumber
do you have pulseaudio enabled? if so they don't work together
I believe pa was removed when pipewire was installed as they conflict
pipewire is there but it's not detecting the device
lsusb shows the headphones or audio source?
Would a laptop's built in speakers show there?
i don't think so but lspci should (also a reboot might be worth trying
)
sure as a sanity check
IT'S WORKING
REBOOT FIXED IT
i'm sorry for doubting you
lmao
I will now reboot constantly whenever I change anything following this one experience
thank you!
most things usually just require a relog, when i load nvidia module and relog it just works instead of rebooting, seems pipewire is a different case (and it's a little too overlook-ish to look at the code)
wym overlook-ish?
to find out what it loads and what it needs, just to see if it really needs a reboot or not lols
aah
Check for sof-firmware
Oh how do you mark a thread as solved
... solved
