This isn't about ego but it also doesn't come down to a democracy, the server could vote that we allow slurs as well for all I care, but it's not going to happen, and before you come out with more "it isn't your call to make it's Anna's server ;(" arguments, I also happen to know anna wouldn't just allow slurs because a majority wants it, just as an example. Decisions are made based on the merit we see in making those decisions, the arguments for a general channel in this case lack merit in my opinion, and I doubt anna will disagree if anna reads this thread.
