#Virtual box guest addition: Unable to download

I went into devices, and clicked "insert guest addition CD image", after that this (attached picture) dialog appeared.
after clicking download. it doesn't download.
it also doesnt properly display the error. I can see this in the sidebar "During certificate downloading: Unknown reason"

ok so I downloaded guest additions ISO in the VM and found the exe there and have run it. kets see what happens.
