#xfce does not work in arch linux (gui installer)

iirc, lightdm may refuse to work in my experience
have you tried directly starting it from tty?
well, started the display manager from the tty
well that enables it to start on boot, to start it directly, you need to run systemctl start lightdm which you can try to see that
also, from the arch wiki
" Choose Xfce Session from the menu in a display manager of choice, or add exec startxfce4 to Xinitrc. "
try using xinitrc?
installing the packages would add it to a display manager
though you only need xfce4 for it to be added
ah wait
you said you removed which packages?
why would you remove the xfce4 package if you want to boot into it?
it doesnt add all of them, or maybe it does
one second
installing the xfce4 group adds these packages
then goodies adds these, which are nice to have and you kinda sorta need them to daily drive xfce4
you can if you want, sure
but xfce4 is the minimum for using the DE
I believe so?
I don't have much experience in chroot
but you can do it either
you can boot into the system and use the tty if you so choose
you boot into it
Oh that one
Did u see that?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/LightDM#Greeter
Its in that section
ok thats a driver issue
look at the xorg logs the person told u about now
u can use grep and cat to filter it
cat [file] | grep EE
send me the full path u looked for the log file in
/var/log
Is a place where logs for a lot of system apps are stored
.s rs
<command to print output> |& curl --data-binary @- https://paste.rs
what packages did u install? any for graphics?
Well I'd need more info on what hardware u are running for that
Well then its pretty obvious
well what happens now
didnt u enable the service?
well then it should be ran automatically
WHat do the logs say?
Well, I'd guess the location shouldnt have changed
check if theres a lightdm log file in that folder too
show me the lightdm config
wait, what did u do there
u didnt do that, right?
u did not
Its commented out
well that doesnt help me
Well I need more info than "It didnt work"
The log and config would be helpful, did u look at them already?
Im not handholding you
send what could be helpful
arch has gui installer now?
no way
