so uh in the video you can see that the screen flickers randomly but its only the recording thats flickering and not my screen, I've tried OBS and simplescreenrecorder both and still getting the same video output
if you want any information about my system please let me know.
I am using Intel i5-7500 with no external GPU, I am on KDE Plasma X11 session
#Recording is output with weird visual glitches

The video doesn't seem to flicker...
the top bar is clearly flickering
its not in my screen its just in the video
I was testing my bot and was recording it, later when I open the video it was flickering
Does it happen in a Wayland session
dont know I didnt try yet
I installed arch with a 3rd party installer before and it was perfectly fine with X11 session
Would you consider trying to reproduce the problem in plasma wayland session? After all, the xorg server hasn't been very actively developed for some time.
okay
Install plasma-wayland-session to enable the wayland session. OBS uses pipewire to record the screen in wayland
same thing happening on the wayland session
pipwire isnt an option for me
only XSHM works, which is the same, flickering
only XSHM works, which is the same, flickering
Isn't XSHM for xorg? can you post the output fromecho $XDG_SESSION_TYPE
x11
Then you are not really using Wayland
well I want to stick to x11
and want to fix the screen flicker
I want to mention this again, the screen isnt flickering, its the damn recording that is.
I am very sorry for any frustration, but you probably misunderstood me, I understand this from the beginning.
okay so
i can't use simplescreenrecorder in wayland
the pipewire works in wayland and i didn't notice the screen flicker
how do I get pipewire working in X11?
I respect your choice and regret my decision to try to tell you to test the recording in Wayland so that we can isolate the problem - if it is x11 related. Since xshm is a very old extension and may be buggy. I won't try to convince you to test recording on wayland any further.
Thank you for your understanding and I'm very sorry for the disturbance I caused.
I hope other people can help you solve the problem soon.
Have a nice day
I think you understood me wrong
I recorded in wayland when you told me, you dont need to apologize
I saw 0 flickers which likely means my problem would be solved if I use pipewire
but pipewire is only working for me when I use wayland
