#Remove pronoun roles

Do we know when roleout finishes?
Surely they'll announce the feature at some point - probably when the rollout finishes
Mayhaps, but I’ll likely miss such an announcement, so let me/Anna know
DISCORD BASED
to be honest, I think pronoun roles drive away many biggots so there might be a rise in hate after they are removed
i'm not going to set my user pronoun field because i have irls who know my discord account. i say keep it for now
same, especially since discord allows you to put anything in the field
theres a small chance discord is smart and lets you set it per server
expect a lot of trolls and bigots to put attack/helicopter
they do
it hasn't rolled out to most accounts including me
one of my friends already has it
might be a 2-part rollout
hmm
vi doesn't have nitro so idk what's going on
also i can't see vis pronouns anyway so idk
I have it on both and I was assuming that'd just be how it is
Either way, nothing is gonna happen until at least we know for sure when the rollout is finished, which I suspect will be when discord announces the feature (which I'm sure they will - free publicity for pride month and stuff)
I think the way that Discord should go about enabling this feature is through being able to select your pronouns instead of being able to type it in.
longest dropdown ever
neopronouns are language-specific and don't seem very practical to me
discord could add a list option
would be nice if the standard pronouns could get automatically translated actually
and a bot can make use of it easily
it would be as simple as selecting 1 or more of 4 pronoun options, Prefer not to say, he/him, she/her, they/them
what if someone doesn't know what pronouns are about? they would have no idea what to put in and use it as a meme field
although one big concern with that would be that many languages don't have a neutral pronouns equivalent
so how about having the aforementioned preset (translatable) options as a drop-down list, and having a custom option that allows putting in whatever really
at least it would simplify the basic usecase
it's a text field
and it is settable per server
which I really like because that means people can selectively come out
yess
hmm, if we can pull that field with the discord API then they'll basically just be inviting us to set a bot up to automatically ding the mods when someone joins with thatt shit on their profile
#1140635699775815681 says that the roll out is finished?

i disagree with this as not many users actually use them correctly
thats true
i know someone who puts not/woke as their discord pronouns
as you can guess hes a dick
i feel like discord pronouns should be from a list but like that makes it hard to account for neopronouns
Not many people use them correctly regardless
Role or not
The amount of times I’ve been referred to as “they” is where I’m coming from
because it's way easier to call everyone that instead of looking
they is correct for any person
i like to use it even when i know the pronouns, because it's just so simple in my head
you want your gender affirmed every single time someone refers to you? fair enough i suppose.....
this is a bad idea
not everyone can safely share that they have pronouns everywhere
The pronouns in discord can set server by server can’t they?
yes
wait really?
damn mb lmao
Yeah it’s one of the few discord feature decisions I actually really like, despite not needing to use the feature myself.
yeah kinda helps for language discords for me
it's good that discord is helping normalize it. however i'm not convinced about the text field being a net benefit
