check if you run on wayland or plasma, on wayland you have a black screen when capturing anything.
Okay
KDE has spectacle build in for screenshot. As third party you can install flameshot. For Recording you can install OBS
screenshots
I have plasma (wayland)
i recommend using shutter
I've tried downloading screen captures but it doesn't work, they all close
already tried shutter
switch to plasma and try again, you can do that in the login screen
Could it be an operating system problem?
before I had manjaro and it worked perfectly
i'm in plasma (wayland)
change it to x11?
yes
okay
And now how do I take screenshots?
What is the difference of those 2?
try spectacle flameshot or shutter if they crash again
diffrent architecture, wayland is new and still in developement, it has a better performance but some issues when you try to capture things etc
mm
I am installing the flameshot
@undone violet What do you think is the best desktop environment for arch linux?
i mean it is personal preference mostly. I personally run kde x11, some others use lxqt xfce or others, you can look up a list and check them out, all have pros and cons
Is there any difference, disadvantage or advantage to installing arch linux with archinstall?
the thing with archinstall is, it is faster, but if you never installed arch the manual way, you dont understand much when you run into issues. you dont know how it is build or how it works. archinstall is rather aimed at the people that already know a lot of things. Arch is generally a Distro that gives much freedom, but if you run into issues or brick it you need to fix it yourself, its easier the more knowledge you have
I installed arch linux with almost no knowledge. Do you think what I did was right?
I can not say if it was right or wrong as this is a senseless discussion, what i can say is that it wont be easier for you to handle things, as you need to relern stuff at some point
If you had to choose between debian, fedora and arch linux which one would you choose?
I personally use arch, because i always want to get the newest packages, and i dont have any problem with fixing something when something breaks. If I want a more stable expirience then it is a hard question tbh, probably endevourOS
I do not understand that update and that the packages are broken xD can you explain to me please
If you get the lastest Kernel etc a lot of stuff is untested, so you can run into issues which you need to fix yourself
Ans gpu drivers are always uo yo date
