Help with linux gaming

Hey all! So yesterday my main drive with windows decided to kick the bucket giving me the perfect excuse to switch to linux (EndevourOS), however I'm having some growing pains. My steam games won't launch and I can't get drivers for my nvidia 3080ti without having to boot into recovery mode. I got proton installed, and still nothing. I got the libs installed, and same story. I know these games should work as I play them on my steam deck no problem, which helped push my Linux Migration.

Something from the wiki. This even happened when I was trying to install the os and selected install with nvidia drivers and got stuck here

okay can you do the following: close steam, go into the steamapps folder where proton is installed. delete the proton folders, delete also the compatdata folder in steamapps. start steam and verify integrety of proton

rightclick on a game go into properties -> compatibility -> force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool and then try Proton 8 or Experimental

try to launch the game then and see what happens, if it doesnt start, launch steam via console and try to see if something new pops up

FYI: i would always suggest that if you run into issues with some games in the future then check protondb as there are some fixes there

Progress Update:
Games are now initialing, the issue was I had amdvlk (amd vulkan drivers) with my nvidiavlk, making some weird compatibility issue. so now games at least launch, albeit some crash immediatly, it's progress nonetheless
