#grep shows output, but when I pipe it to cat, I see nothing. Why?

I don't understand how this can happen
Why I have no output after piping grep to cat
Piping cat to grep is redundant... But piping grep to cat doesn't sound like it makes sense
Piping it into echo or something should work
