#custom fonts to terminals [SOLVED]
44 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
grab a font from the interwebs, double-click on it, and install it with the font manager that pops up
oh i never thought it was that simple for some reason let me test it
when i open it it says installed but the terminal doesn't detect it
is it a monospace font?/
is it a nerd font?
yea
you're gonna want to install the fonts that end in mono
terminal apps tend to only like monospace fonts
but some people said it's good for terminals i guess i got click baited
fira code is good, you just likely didn't install the monospace fonts
in the zip file, are there some files whose names end in mono?
no
screenshot the zip file
it has alot of folders can i just upload it ? 4 but 4 screenshots so
nah, just send me a screenshot of the archive manager when you open the zip file
show me the files in the ttf folder
the repo says it's a monospaced font
but it does have the tricks for >=
oh wait
oh wait it's somehow now loaded into the terminal fonts after i restarted it ? even tho i installed it before i started the terminal
the font doesn't seem to do the tricks with <= but at least it works fo rnow
oh it's just tilix not supporting it
youre supposed to copy it into /usr/share/fonts/TTF though
at least thats what i do
or just
pacman -S ttf-fira-code which does the same thing
theyre called ligatures btw
might be good to know
... close
#11251 📣 if you don't need help with this anymore, add [SOLVED] to the start of the post's title (for example, the title could say [SOLVED] pacman not working)
if you're on a laptop or desktop computer, see the note on archiving by sending a message that says ... archive.
95% of fonts you could want, including Fira Code, are in pacman (or aur). You should prefer to install them that way.
yea
also theyre not in pacman itself
pacman doesnt have any packages
its arch repos that have packages
yes.
