#[SOLVED] Main Monitor has odd glitches and artifacts (Nvidia)

Yeah just plain nvidia
and using the plain linux kernel?
As far as I know
What am I looking for
oh wait, you are using optimus-manager again i guess
because your iGPU wasn't in the lspci output
I'm not sure what optimus is
pacman -Qs optimus
No output
oh okay, i misremembered.
seems you have an iGPU, but it's not an Optimus laptop (dual GPU)
pacman -Qs "(nvidia|nouv)" to check what nvidia stuff you have installed.
maybe we need to blacklist nouveau
but it should launch anyway with this. :/
anything; nvidia-settings and nvidia-xconfig likes to mess up everything.
that's why i recommended you not to use nvidia to set up your layout or anything
but i'm not sure if it's related to this case of graphics not starting
OK, there might actually be an issue with the latest nvidia update

Well
another day another solved linux problem
time to install linux on my 500GB NVME PCI GEN 4 M.2 SSD OMG
being real though that is such a bloated name
anyway brb
it has OMG at the end of its official name??
must be a real nice SSD.
Lmao
Samsung 980 Pro
Is the official term
OMG is easier lol
holy fuck
@gloomy kraken
I got everything setup on my SSD
ITS SO FKING FAST WHAT THE HELL'
THIS IS CRAZY
were you on hdd before??
ssd is the single most significant investment one can do on their pc
yep
stuff windows
linux supremacy
windows was wasting this insane speed
and i can sell my old windows 11 home key now lmao
i only payed $11 for it anyway
xd
have you tried different WMs
i tried hyprland
had a seizure
ran back to xmonad my love
i have also tried KDE, gnome and qtile
but you say it's only on 1 monitor
the rest is fine??
#1099520076744495174 message
what
lol
i didnt have the glitches on my other monitors no
OH
NONO
I MEA
I HAVE NEVER TRIED THE GAME ON THOSE OTHER WM'S
SO I DONT KNOW
i have only played the game on xmonad
and seen the issue
wait it's not software related
it appears to be your monitor is the issue
if other monitors don't have the glitch it's the monitor fault
but reportedly the monitor works fine on Windows
still, you should try another WM.
once you go dwm, you never go back.
lmao
once you go xmonad you never want to leave
because you sold your soul to haskell
and it wont let you leave
help..
xd
Oh quick quesiton
how do i put mutliple package names in the --ingore statement of paru
i don't know :(
i use yay, but never did that myself
damm
cause i cant find anything anywhere about how to
also why is brave out of date lmao
regular citizens flag AUR packages as out-of-date, when they are just slightly off the latest git version of the application the package is for.
however, there's often a reason for it being back 1-2 versions or so.
ok yeah thanks
Gozenka received a thank you cookie!
what is that?
(i got this from journalctl)
mk
Helloooo
So
I am still having lots of issues with glitches
and i am working on doing some extra research
I did find one article on nvidia forums
wher alot of people experienced what i beleive is my same issue only on one monitor and only if the monitors wher above 120hz
i switched my second monitor down to 120hz
but im keeping my main at 144
will test
Ok i have tested
at first it was very subtle
after a while alot of the invetory screens have burnt in
i also notice after about 30 mins
if i press Esc
it permantley locks me in the escape menu
i can click every other button except for back to game
This is making me think this is definatley an issue with OpenGL
@gloomy kraken @green parcel
sometimes when i reboot
to remove the burnt in image
i can still see it
every so slightly
im going to try switching the monitor experiencing the issue from 144hz to 120
and i will try not using fullscreen mode
hm
@here
I have solved it
I have been playing for 2-3 hours
and zero glitches
The Fix:
I set both of my monitors to 120hz.
The way i came to this conclusion is because in a forum post a while ago. people had a simlar issue whenever they used anything above 120hz
atfer trying it myself the issue is solved
lol
🥲 Nvidia just not caring to implement some functionality in their Linux driver, and not letting anyone else do it by keeping closed-source.
