[SOLVED] SDDM wont let me log in, cannot access any TTY via CTRL+F1-12 | Arch Linux Community | Page 1

Heyo,

so if I enter my password in SDDM I get a black screen for roughly a second and then it throws me back to the greeter. Whats even weirder is I cannot access any other TTYs to even try to fix anything. it only shows the green [ OK ] stuff the initial booting instead of giving me a prompt to login or enter commands. How do I fix this?

What did I do previously:
I had a kernel panic on boot where it said libpam.so was too short. So I got a bootstick and chrooted into that system forced a reinstallation of the pam package via pacman --overwrite. after that it booted again but I now get this weird thing where I cannot log in anymore.

Im not sure what other info is helpful, please just tell me if you need any more info. I will gladly provide it.

I tried both Wayland and X11 sessions for Plasma with a Nvidia gpu both didnt work. Im kinda clueless

This is what happens when I try any other TTY. I cannot enter anything. Im basically totally locked out of my system no clue how to get back in

you could create an arch installation media and change root into your system.

I did that to get it to work in the first place. How can I fix this with a chroot? Or even how can I figure out whats wrong from a chroot if the sys isnt even able to be logged in

Remove sddm and replace it with some other dm to see whether it's sddm's fault maybe ?

I dont know how I got to that idea but apparently all my packages were broken

I did arch-chroot into my system and then pacman -Syu --overwrite \* $(pacman -Qnq), now it boots again
