Ok , fine

I have an hp laptop

it runs arch , which i installed through archinstall , its a two partition system

i was using pacman to install a package , and it was super slow , so i closed it midway

now when i try to use pacman , it just says it is currently in use

ive tried basic solutions like rm the lock file , and also rebooting , but nothing works , so i cant install packages anymore since pacman is stuck

and when i try pacman -Sy , it says locked database

oh and im using xfce

what lockfile are you removing

rm /var/lib/pacman/db.lck

also when i run this remove command it asks for confirmation and says its a write-protected regular empty file

run it with sudo

then try installing yay again

but also why doesnt linux just say u need sudo

and all online solutions dont say u need sudo

idk, guides are different

also u might not have sudo installed on your system (could have something like doas)

also some people dont have root permissions in systems like networks
