Please follow the Standard Litany when asking a question:
• What was your environment? What was your operating system, configuration?
• What did you do? What did you run or test? Where?
• What actually happened? What were the exact results, complete log contents, exact error messages?
• What did you expect? What were you aiming to achieve? What result were you looking for?
Vague or superficial questions will yield vague or superficial answers. False information leads to false solutions.
gnome, kde plasma, distro- literally all linux distro
change to linux
the mic isnt working after linux
the mic to work again like it used to earlier
Arch doesn't use any audio server by default. Up to you to select one. So idk wdym by no mic on arch. Fedora uses pipewire and Ubuntu uses pulse
Still missing info

Send hardware info and again, arch can use any audio server you want, it's not like fedora or ubuntu
Check pavucontrol and alsamixer

You may like to check pipewire service status
Also wireplumber
uhhh how?
systemctl --user status pipewire
systemctl --user status wireplumber
systemctl --user status pipewire-pulse```
Also journalctl
systemctl --user status pipewire
systemctl --user status wireplumber
systemctl --user status pipewire-pulse

Also what does pavucontrol shows?
I see a muted icon there, what happens if you click it?
btw the old laptop is revived thanks a lot for the help
Lenard D'hearn✦ 🌙 received a thank you cookie!
Sorry? What are ya talking about
the volume sliders get dimmed and dont get changed anymore
the linux installation for the micromax laptop
So it mutes it?
yep basically
I remember helping someone to install Arch32
Do you really need fedora btw?
I mean yeah fedora seems really smooth and easy to use
So is Arch based EndeavourOS
Or linux mint
- the mic for me is broken on them too
- arch has errors many times and I wanted to use RHEL based distro for some time
- linux mint- will try on vm and check
I was using garuda before this but it was using way too much recources and had some broken packages
Wdym
Arch can use any audio server so
No need for a VM. Make a ventoy usb and try all distros
Try with EndeavourOS
oh right I forgot about it
alright
Yup. Try the distros live
You can even troubleshoot live
It uses pipewire tho
didnt work...
Wdym
the input still wasnt detected even after using external headset it didnt detect the hedset mic and didnt take input from integrated mic
