#[GAVE UP] Failed to boot after installing nvidia driver
34 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
If you're able to, try deleting the xorg configuration you made, also, you don't need to manually blacklist nouveau
usually you can run nvidia-xconfig rather than making the config yourself unless you're doing specific options. Furthermore, I would also check if you're modsetting the nvidia KM'
sorry what is the nvidia km
Kernel module
ah sorry missed your message, i can't
how do i modset nvidia km?
did you already dkms install for nvidia
for your kernel
That should have been done automatically
right i'm not very sure
i'm now on usb installation media
mounted
well looks like i haven't
are you able to access a TTY?
it's not booted yet, i suppose no
Just because it hasn’t booted in your terms doesn’t mean it cannot access a TTY
then i can't
i've removed the nvidia drivers now
not sure if i want to do it again
Are you aware of what a TTY is
ye
terminal
alt ctrl f2
xorg uses the first tty1
i mean kde
or whatever
There are multiple TTY sessions
Not only one
7 ig
So if you cannot access one I would recommend chroot’ing into the system and bringing up the log of your previous boot and find the error for failing to load kernel modules or even change your loglevel to a higher level to debug which one is faulting
Using that knowledge you an isolate if the module is missing or just not being loaded
