I'm on EndeavourOS, with a Windows/EndOS dual-boot and my root partition is full, so I wanted to assingn more space to it. I have 4 gb of unallocated space and I'm in Gparted on live usb and was wondering if it was safe to move my swap partition to the left and move my root partition also to the left and resize it (make it bigger by those 4 unallocated gb) Is that safe to do without data loss? Or will that mess things up?

It will take forever
My root partition is 10gb
Oh
That's why I wanna make it a little bit bigger
Should be fine then
but to do that I need to move it first, but is that safe or will things get messed up?
Should be safe
If things get messed up, (not related to data loss)
Then it's an easy fix afterwards
I won't loose my data doing this right?
You should make a backup if you care about the data anyway
I don't really have data I care much about, I just don't wanna spend time reinstalling everything
Ok, so I'm moving swap and root to the left now
and will make root bigger by 4gb
I hope everything goes ok
I got this error when trying to move root
what should I do?
hm
Oh I fixed I think, by moving and resizing at the same time
You might want to do it from the live environment instead of the installed system
Oh nvm you got it
Im in live enviroment
they are on a live environemnt
Ok
you can figure it out by seeing that the parititon op is resizing is not mounted as listed in gparted
that's what it looks like now
aight, I assume you have applied operations?
I should be ok to apply those changes right?
not yet
I'm kinda scared tbh
yes, you can trust parted when it comes to linux filesystems like ext4
ok, thank you all people! I will hit apply now
Yay! Everything worked!!! Now I have a whopping 14gb for my root
enough for Linux
... solved

Thank you
I have a 64gb ssd and like 40 gigs are taken up by Windows :///
You could try shrinking windows or installing one to an external drive
wdym by shrinking windows?
Windows disk management can shrink windows partition
^ That
Ah that, already did that, but can't make it any smaller, so 14gigs it is
[SOLVED] Is it safe to move/resize root?
You could also use an external drive for Arch
It’s much harder to do with windows, but possible
hmm, I will look into that, thx
