143 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
is your wifi module loaded? run "lsmod" and check if its in there.
Which wifi card?
This is the output of lspci (another person asked me in #tech-general)
let me check it
may it be "asus_wireless"? in that case, it says 0
do you have Asus wireless card??
I don't know how to check it, I'm using a laptop
I have an asus laptop
it says nothing
btw, I have reinstalled networkmanager and linux-firmware in case it was related to that but it still doesn't work
that means the command succeeded: now check lsmod again
to be clear, outside of the ISO, was wifi ever working?
I don't even see a wifi controller here?
Maybe try lsusb, it could be connected via USB instead of pci
it still shows 0
hmm
I thought I was going mad, I can't see asus_wireless anywhere
it was working some reboots again
I don't know how I messed things up...
do you have a wifi button on your keyboard (possible as one of the F keys)
Was that after updating
Your wifi drivers might've been removed from the new kernel version for some reason
it doesn't seem so...
also there might be a switch on the side of the laptop
.
ok
seems like too many voices so I'll leave this with Jodi and sed, good luck
ok sure
ignore the line that says samsung electronics, its my phone connected with usb tethering so I can at least use discord
I can't find one
that's what I thought, driver problems, but idk how to get the drivers for this laptop's wifi card
?
I also can't find one
hmm ok
ok, thanks!
vegancookies received a thank you cookie!
?
asus f541uj-gq103t
after modprobing Asus wireless try connecting again
I can't even list networks with nmcli
I have rebooted again but it still doesn't work
I reinstalled the linux package and it showed this messages, may they be related to my problem?
also, might downloading an older kernel fix my issue?
maybe instal the one of the other linux-firmwares. you can list it by entering sudo pacman -Ss linux-firmware
should I remove the linux-firmware I have installed first and then install a new one?
that's normal
ok
no, you can have both
ok, I'll try to install another one
and then regenerate the initramfs
how can I do that?
mkinitcpio -P
sudo mkinitcpio -P
and then reboot
and check if wifi is working
-P generates it for all kernels, you don't need to specify linux
oh
which one should I install?
i think qcom, marvell, mellanox these are also preinstalled in archcraft
what is archcraft?
ppl who can't rice and want a cool desktop
wow, that's so cool
I'll try to customize my desktop after I get my wifi working
I'm using xfce
alright
what model is your laptop?
asus f541uj-gq103t
its annoying, I cant find any full manual on it online
so I dont know what wifi adapter it sues
lspci shouldve shown it but it just didnt, its so weird
I think it uses an Asus wifi adapter from what I can see online, not much info tho
also sorry I was having a shower
Don't worry
This is showing up when booting through a pendrive with arch
Using ip link
Run lsmod in the live usb
Send output
Or at least check for a wifi module present
looks like wifi works on live usb
Sorry, the output of tje command is too long
Because of ath9k module
it's ok I've gathered necessary info
Perfect
try reboot into system
Ok
And sudo modprobe ath9k then try connecting to WiFi
Interesting message when rebooting...
I did that
ok fair enough
It works now...
Like
Why
automatically or with modprobe?
Automatically
hmm ok
I just rebooted
And again to test
Ok ok
In the end I didn't install any because I didn't know which one to install
oh
atheros wifi card firmware should be built into Linux-firmware
2nd time and it's working
3rd also works
This is a certified programmer moment
lol
The thing is I did reboot many times
And it wasn't working
Any ways, many thanks for helping me
Really
I know they always help with problems (especially this community)
