#[SOLVED]Guest with SMB
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
is your question, how do i make my smb share have guest access?
if so just add
public = yes
in your share
Thats not enough. I figured most of it already actually
it was for me
Actually, i think i got it fully working now
Windows was asking for password still. Needs map guest to bad password setting
Yup
Got it working
im pretty sure there's an option to like say it's a guest user
cus with smbclient there's a flag to log in as guest
Useful info for people wanting this and using gnome:
- Gnome disk utility is automounting ntfs drives if you have them.
in [global]
map to guest = Bad Password
server min protocol = SMB2_02
set your share in smb.conf file
that's a but why moment
the protocol can be higher than 2
for gdisk util
i have 4 ntfs drives.
they were mounting automatically.
i wanted to share the files from one of them.
it will not work for guest because of permission issues.
you need to add ACL to mount params.
now it does, perfectly work
🤓
goal of this was to be able to share movies via smb using both windows and linux. its working on windows already, now on linux as well
in fact it was a little easier on linux because no mess with permissions
the initial issue was with ntfs
specially since if you dual boot windows
or used windows with them
there's a chance one of them is dirty from a hibernation, hybrid sleep, or a powerloss
making it mount as ro
no need. i know about this.
anyway i just tested it
fully working 😄
... solved
