#how do I give more space to root? [solved]

tho idk what the layout looks like so i cant help much
parted /dev/yourdrive -s print free
.s rs
<command to print output> |& curl --data-binary @- https://paste.rs
remove the 2
parted /dev/sda -s print free
ok
since i dont want you to fuck this up
id advice to go download ubuntu or linux mint iso
and use gparted from there
cus that layout
needs moving
which takes long depending on the speed of your drive
moving is also a dangerous operation since if it gets interrupted
the partition being moved (which will be sda3 in this case) is gone
partitions acts like blocks in a line so you cant really extend if the partition without the free space next to it
and you can only extend/shrink at the end of the partition
which is why when extending at the start it's actually moving then extending
why not just use gparted iso
or that, but ive heard stuff about it not booting
oh
it worked for me idk
aight
now
shrink sda3 from the left
and extend sda2 from the right
then apply changes with the checkmark
the shrinking part will take long btw since it's actually shrinking then moving
no
you used archinstall right?
if so then that's most likely your /home
i think to apply changes its ctrl enter
or just choose the second column in the top left corner
as long as it isnt the esp it should be fine
either way
we can just reinstall grub if it turns out it wont boot
oh
that should be good then
it says that bc it messes with uuids
since its actually just making a new partition
no it isnt
probably
shrinking from the left
is shrinkin and moving
but im pretty sure it changes the uuid or something similar
isnt moving just copying and deleting or something similar
the partuuid
but not the fsuuid
oh maybe so idk
if someone uses partuuid for identifying disk
what's wrong with that
just as you said
it changes with little operations
even extending a partition
it changes
oh that's faster than what i expected, is this an ssd?
oh
is this a question
