but i think if you plug a external monitor, it will automatically show your laptop screen simultaneously

rough kindle
#

no its not showing

#

is that because of the adapter i am using ?

#

It converts hdmi to vgi coz my monitor has only vgi port

#

how do i use xrandr to look for available displays ?

#

the --listmonitors showing only one monitor

check if your laptop is referenced somewhere on the archwiki, there may be something there

#

run

#

pacman -Syu

snow whale

#

yeah so enable multilib and try installing the packages i sent u

#

also does the monitor show up in the nvidia x server settings

snow whale
#

ok

#

so

#

plug in your monitor, turn it on to whatever it should be piocking up on

#

and then run xrandr and send output

#

and since ur nvidia

#

also run n send output for this

#

/usr/lib/nvidia-current/bin/nvidia-xconfig --query-gpu-info --nvidia-cfg-path=/usr/lib/nvidia-current

rough kindle
snow whale
#

and the monitor still isnt recognizing?

#

well

#

showing output

#

here run this

#

xrandr --listactivemonitors

#

n lemme see

snow whale
#

thats fine

#

run the latest command

rough kindle
#

snow whale
rough kindle
snow whale

snow whale
#

rough kindle
#

:')

snow whale
#

d this

#

do this

#

xrandr --output HDMI-1-0 --mode 1920x1080

#

any luck w that?

rough kindle
rough kindle
#

hey based on my research ive seen that, the main display is connected to my integrated gpu and the ports are connected to my discrete nvidia gpu

#

ig if thats the problem

snow whale
#

wait

#

i fucking forgot

#

yea

#

hold on

rough kindle
#

: )

snow whale
#

so

#

do you care to have both on

#

or are u fine w running just the nvidia

rough kindle
#

if both is possible then the former

#

or else i am just fine with nvidia

snow whale
#

ok so

#

im not a pro so i can only try and help w just nvidia working

#

but

rough kindle
rough kindle
snow whale
#

u gotta download package and build

#

or use paru/yay

rough kindle
#

command ?

snow whale
#

look em up

#

but

#

follow these instructions

#

just the first one for "PRIME"

#

not reverse prime

#

and follow this

rough kindle
#

shall i just replace intel with amd everywhere ?

rough kindle
#

does this do the same thing as the optimus-manager ?

snow whale
#

i dont know what optimus-manager does

#

you can try that first if you want

rough kindle
#

yeah wait

snow whale
#

mmm apparently instead of all that

#

you can just run nvidia-xconfig --prime

#

anyways ping me with logs if that doesnt work, ima go back to doin work

rough kindle
#

ok ok brb

#

heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

#

optimus manager works

#

got my screen working

#

Ill use nvidia alone whenever i use my monitor then

#

Thank you so much y'all 🙏

snow whale
#
