will i need to boot into arch iso to do that?? @errant whale @robust coral
yes or any environment or your own system (as long as it doesnt hinder the rootfs) tbh
my arch install wont be effected right?
yes if youre careful
can u send some steps how to do that
after opening cfdisk
the steps are
is to not touch your installation's partitions
i only have 2 partition rn, is there anything i can do?
Disk /dev/nvme0n1: 476.94 GiB, 512110190592 bytes, 1000215216 sectors
Disk model: HFM512GDJTNG-8310A
Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

/dev/nvme0n1p1 2048 1048575 1046528 511M EFI System
/dev/nvme0n1p2 1050624 1000214527 999163904 476.4G Linux filesystem
but if your installations paritions uses everything then youll have to resize it
im too lazy to teach you how to do it in a terminal so im just gonna say
use gparted
either from gparted live
or from a live environment that has it
like mint or ubuntu livecds
i dont understand what u mean
what i mean is to use gparted
since it's gui
download mint iso
flash it into your usb
boot into that usb and open gparted
then resize and partition your disk
is there a way to do that with win iso?
coz im gonna install win after that so... it'll be less work
no
windows doesnt support filesystems on linux
so it cant resize their underlying filesystems
@errant whale is it ok to install gparted in arch and use that?
You can use gparted live ISO
And even if you install gparted on arch, you need to unmount all partitions
yeah
but youre not able to do much
unless you use btrfs
cus any filesystem other than btrfs doesnt support online shrinking
.aw partitioning
I mean.. There's literally a download link there
@inner wind how to resize in gparted cli?
@errant whale
i booted into gparted live usb
in cli mode
coz X wasn't working
how can i know that
could you show me what the cli looks like
i ran the command parted it says
GNU Parted 3.5
Using /dev/sda
no, its on other laptop
and i dont have any phone
prompt says root@debian:/#
parted started
so i used the resize command and now the system is not booting up
oh iy's just a normal cmdline
yes
im too tired to tell you command by command rn
so id just recommend installing mint iso
and open gparted from there
the system is broken already
fuck
ig theres no way to resize boot partition
oh bruh
did you just do that
cus if you do that
youll have to reinstall your bootloader
anyways now i know
