Frostlands - Exploration - Exploration Cartography

"How can we improve navigation in the Frostlands?

Frostlander Experience | [DRAFT] | Adaptation

"Those who came to us from the Frostlands know them, and their memories can help us navigate through the wilderness and find important landmarks."

  • Exploration time slightly decreased
By relying on their memories we get basic directions for new expeditions, though using them for exact navigation is unwise.

  • Territory threat level is decreased
Thanks to them we can be warned of potential dangers on our way ahead.

  • Expedition preparation time is increased
Before we can embark on an expedition, we must first gather the relevant information and analyze it.

I am not certain as how the "experience" of these people will be utilised specifically as they would probably have to be put in a certain position within the scout hierarchy.

For the last effect you probably mean the expedition preparation time (same effect appeared on the adaptation expedition preparation support law)

#

Marginal decrease to threat level feels weak for adaptation

wouldn't we need to have one frostlander for each direction, kinda?

Like, they can teach us how to have general precautions, that's realistic, but I don't think "directions" will be possible unless we have a frostlander that is specifically from that general direction and that arrived recently

they can help us prepare better and be careful, but I don't know about landmarks

and if the frostlander didn't arrive recently, if they arrived before the series of whiteouts that we had, the landscape could've already changed enough to be very tough to recognise, and new dangers could've easily popped up

Usually adaptation goes slow but versatile (aka high danger tolerance)

I think speed itself doesn't need a boost, but preparation and danger could be a bit better

#

I don't know, I've not done or read enough adaptation laws to know about them well

If they have a sense of direction and distance, you could put their knowledge on a map.

Like, they can teach us how to have general precautions
The law is not that Frostlanders will teach us how to scout, but warn us of (more or less) exact dangers and tell us what they passed before they got to us.

That's why I put the effects so low. It is helpful, but you can't solely rely on it, and you might not even get the info you need. Also I didn't wanna make it too good.
But I'll change it, the gms can adjust it if they use it.

I think I understand it better now, sorry for misunderstanding the proposal

It's mostly just asking people "Hey, you came from over there, what did you see"

the low effects would probably be in accordance with stuff changing, and the fact that their memories won't be 100% perfect

it's mostly just scouts bringing in frostlanders for questioning, asking them about what they saw, and noting it down somewhere/on a map
