I can play full day without talking to any alter and my game will save correctly and I will have a Day 44 in my saves. However as soon as I talk to any alter about "Rebelion" the save is not working anymore. This Rebelion is specificaly related with Mechanic not having bed to sleep in and ask me to build a dormitory. I have 5 alters (Mechanic, Miner, Scientist, Botanis, Doctor).
#PC steam: Game don't save when talking to alters about the Rebelion (Day 43, Act 2)
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I read about other Rebelions save issues but they were related when moving from Act 1 to Act 2 rather than being just during Act 2.
this has been addressed partially in latest hotfix and should not be occurring if you restart the playthrough from latest journey
will there be a fix which wont force me to restart the playthrough? I did so many things since the journey
can't promise anything, making fixes that affect user savedata is a tricky thing and we don't want to accidentally make the situation worse
but we'd very much like to fix it
ok so in case I want to restart, then I just do it to the last day of Act 1 and then what? Anything needs to be done differently?
I remember I had a rebelion at that time but didnt address it
alternatively, if I can modify the save file itself somehow?
Nah, just load that save and everything should be fine this time
That unfinished rebellion was what was causing the issue, but we fixed the part where you start journey without resolving it
ok, I restarted and play it through again. However now I am getting another rebelion and game over after 5 days. In the tasks it says that one of the alters is unhappy, but all of them are happy. No matter what I do, it ends up in game over. Is this another bug? Is this connected to the previous one anyhow?
I like this game but in this state I face a game-breaking bug one after another
can you upload content of %localappdata%\11bitstudios\TheAlters\Steam\Saved\SaveGames to google drive and share it with me? this way I can take a look at what's going on. From the screenshot it looks pretty normal, as if you didn't improve the moods enough (if you've neglected the alters in act1 for a long time then improving their moods in act2 will require significant effort)
Sure, I'll share it with you. Before that, I just want to point out that in the last save, I know everyone appeared sad or unhappy. However, I managed to turn things around and got everyone happy by the end of the day. I talked to them, gave them items I found on the map, and we watched a movie together.
I replayed that day for you and took screenshots of each character so you can see their emotional state. From what I can tell, they seem pretty happy.
When I go to sleep, screen looks like below:
@onyx plover how can I share a link with you? Could you please add me to the friend list so I can send PM?
looking at the screenshots i still stand by the opinion they're not happy enough, the size of the name of emotions correspond to the strength of that emotion
and if you look at Miner his strongest emotion is Joy, BUT the sum of all other negative emotions is definitely higher than that joy
but of course i might be wrong, once i get the save file i can see the numerical values in debug
oh, I see, it's not obvious as the overal score for miner is 'feeling ok'. So if what you are saying about proportions is right, then I think the overal mood should indicate it. Otherwise how do I know who is not happy enough? Other than trying to focus only on emotions there will be a constant worry that some word is a bit bigger and might be causing issues.

what do you mean by this exactly? Start the play through with my save JUST before entering Act II? I too had a rebellion start when going into Act II and can't save after day 47. Same as OP (talking to the alters about the rebellion and being tasked with building another dormitory).
Are you saying there's probably not a fix coming for us, so to cut our losses and start the day before entering Act II, stop the rebellion and THEN enter Act II?
Just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly as I'll be undoing half my game play (about 10 hours for me).
Thanks!
yup, loading the save from last journey is currently the only way stop this from happening. You don't have stop any rebellion, cause they're automatically stopped during journey (or at least now they are - before the hotfix they weren't properly ended which was the cause of this issue)
just to make it clear - we're talking here about a situation where the game can be played, but the saves are not being created, not a situation where you run into a crash or black screen when going to sleep
This is correct for my experience. Thanks for the confirmation!
remember to load the journey save, not the one before. At least this worked for me.
Oh fuck what!?
I just did the one before and played 10 more days. I’ll check the saves when i get home to make sure it saved
