"How should we maintain water needs of our City?"

Automatic Snow Collection Hub

# [200 Workforce requirement]
# [Heat demand drops sligtly.]
# [Disease decreases marginaly.]
# [Frostbreaking speed slightly increased.]
-[Squalor increases notably.]

A small step towards Progress.

A young person finally begins his argumentation.

"Everyone knows how steam-related machines work. They require two components: water and a heat source. Currently, we are limited to using coal as a heat source, but this is not the main topic of discussion."

"The most important issue is the availability of water for technical, medical and household needs. Water is used for heating. When heated, snow changes from a solid state to a liquid state, and then to a gaseous state, forming steam. This steam, passing through the pipes, heats them, and thanks to metals such as copper, we can heat everything else. Our generator is capable of consuming a large amount of fuel, but without snow we will be forced to use coal inefficiently."

"In addition, water is also used for medical purposes. The newly proposed steam bath (https://discord.com/channels/399667662625701893/1335415207492845628) will require a significant amount of steam, which cannot be used for the same purposes as for heating houses, as they have different breathable properties. Using one type of steam will simply replace body diseases with lung diseases, which we strive to avoid."

"Finally, every person needs to drink at least two liters of water a day. Ideally, each working person should have three to four liters of water to maintain the normal functioning of the body and prevent dehydration. We need more than 35 tons of water every day, not counting technical and medical needs."

Young man makes a small stop, changes his notes, and then proceeds further.

"By using specialized machinery and equipment, we will be able to actively collect clean snow from areas outside the immediate vicinity of the districts, and potentially even within the city limits. It is worth noting that this could also benefit icebreaker teams, as the absence of snow overhead and the exposure of an ice layer would allow them to begin work immediately and disregard the snow."

#

"Although the current challenges with the Squalor prevent us from immediately beginning work in this area, once this issue has been addressed to some extent, we will be able to utilize these machines for snow-related activities. This will assist us in addressing the more significant issues that have been plaguing us since the onset of the great cold – Cold, Sickness, and, to some extent, Hunger. That is all, thank you for your time."

The man concludes his statement.

don't worry, the Technocrats can solve the squalor

As for the machinery

In theory, two types of machines would be required to clear snow. One type would be an icebreaker and the other would be a vehicle for transport. The main difference between these two types of machine is that icebreakers would have very large scoops instead of drill bits. These scoops would scoop up snow and deposit it into cargo holds. Before the work the cargo holds are treated to remove any impurities.

While I'm not fully informed on those medical statements as well as how our current water supply operates, it does indeed sound like a reasonable idea to support our current supply system. And indeed, it would very much be an idea that assists other proposed projects or current works as well.

Yet the notable squalor would be too much to bear. We're already facing notable squalor, we don't need any more of it.

Full squalor! Fervor

Jokes aside, i believe that water rly is the least of the problems any City post Frost has. There is an abundance of snow and ice and it would be easy to collect for all the needs. Otherwise how would the Steam_core operate without enough of it?

What we might need is a law organising the collection of things, including snow and ice in order to bring down production time or something

I agree it could've been the least of the problems way back when the cities were established.

Now we have a huge amount of buildings, districts and with it - polution. Which, as I'm sure, goes in to the snow.

It is also important to notice that by taking whatever snow you can find might give you food poisoning at best, new "red plague" at worst. So it should be proppely selected and transfered to a place where it can be checked and then - redistributed between the districts

And you right, a law or some kind will be great as well...

I disagree.

Snow per se isnt Bad. Sure you shouldnt take whats within city Parameters.

But everything collected outside of its borders should be fine.

Snow does not hold germs on it's own. You shouldnt take the yellow snow, if you get me and snow found ontop of hazards should be avoided out of caution. But evething else rly is fine. So if there are people shoveling snow in an 8h shift like 30min walk away from the city, that is just fine
