#Table top RPGs?

yes. and then yes.
What do you usually play?
little bit of 5E. tried OSRIC for a bit.
Nice. I prefer light systems. 5e is too crunchy, mechanical heavy.
I know Osric. It is OSR (Old school renaissance) game. I like this genre because usually have simple rules and it is more about your creative problem-solving, than what is on your character sheet.
I would love to see @exotic lion playing online Frostpunk rpg session with Devs.
@torn saffron maybe after fp2 release 😄
Shall I keep it as a promise?
definitely not!
If you will need help with that, let me know.
will do 🙏
It is serious proposition 🙂
I already worked on similar project for Bethesda. It was ttrpg session on YT promoting Elder Scrolls online.
It was more about getting ttrpg's fans to the video game, than other way around.
I think it had 40k views.
@torn saffron Sounds cool! can you link the video?
Will send in DM
5e is incredibly simplified compared to its older versions. Hell, you can bullshit, half-read the source material and as long as you sound like you know what you’re talking about, it’s a great time! Of course, as with any TTRPG, you need friends to play it, which I’m sure is a major hassle for people like us, waiting for FP2
Disagree & Disagree

5e have more crunch in comparison to really light weight mechanics of old D&D or to modern neo-retro/OSR.
For instance complete rules of EZD6 RPG is 120 pages, Knave RPG is 20, World of Dungeons is 4 pages... It's all because there are no complicated and detailed rules describing what to do if your character catch the fire. For example in World of Dungeons is you roll 2d6. Score below 6 it's a failure to kill the fire, instead fire kills you. 7-9 you made it with some cost, you get some damage from it or part of your equipment is destroyed. On 10+ is full success with no cost.
In World of Dungeons fight with 5 bandits take up to 10 minutes. In 5e it will easily 40 minutes or more. -
You can play ttrpg on your own. It is called solo RPG. It uses random tables to describe the world and so called oracles to EMULATE Game Master.
If you want to try it, I would recommend free game called Ironsworn.
It is a game about low fantasy world, wild land where people trying to survive in the age of iron. It have some Nordic/viking vibe.
I think with few tweaks it could handle Frostpunk setting.
for #3 that could also be described as Writing a Book ™️
No, it is different. I agree you create a story in solo playing and when you write a book. But it feels more like RPG.
It may sounds like it, but it is definitely different. You also have so called journal solo games. Like Thousand Year Old Vampire. There are some rules, you get questions about fiction and you literally write a journal as a vampire. But you can play 5e solo and it will still feel like RPG and nothing to do with writing fantasy novel.
Anyways, playing as a group of scouts going to the outskirts on London would be fun.
just jumping in with my opinon 5th is much easier compared to 3.5 (i played both) and i would not call it crunchy, but there are many much loser ttrpg like cogent wich realy promotes RP
i feel like Call of Cthulhu would be the perfect system for a Frost Punk based Table top system, it's easy to play and very simple. good job skills that are feel usfull and a Sanity system that would function like Discontent
right well i know what i'm writting now
i've had that same idea. but i don't have the mind to make it work.
I am playing frostpunk inspired RPG session with my Swedish friend next weekend.
Are there any documents or reads about the lore?
sounds great, especially if within a major city, such as Anchorage
Not really. I’m playing a Star Wars dnd game with some of my friends but it is my first time playing a ttrpg. I’m enjoying it so far though, so a frostpunk ttrpg might not be off the table for me
I actually made a character that was from the frost punk universe. Ironically enough, they died to silver and gold.
yes and hell yess
Just saw this but I would be interested , what kinda system would you use? And how would mechanics work? More like a settlement building type game such as Mutaint year 0?
MY0 is a decent solution, but we used simplified Apocalypse World!
We both like AW approach: Fiction first.
Nice! I’ve always wanted to play or dm a syfi like system, most of my buds don’t wanna have to learn a new system so I’m stuck to fantasy campaigns lol
Well. We also considered Ironsworn by Shawn Tomkin to use for Frostpunk.
It's neat system. Default setting is low fantasy iron age. It is free
BUT
There is a sister game to the above called Ironsworn:Starforged (sci-fi and paid).
Bottom line is: learn Ironsworn so you can play both fantasy and sci-fi.
One to rule them all.
Thanks for the advice I’ll definitely check it out
I can make it work, would anyone be interested in joining if I could wrangle one together
The mission I was thinking was to have you operate as a scouting party sent on one of the most important missions of your life. Or as a member of the the faith or order guard sent to investigate a disappearance of supplies
This sounds neat.
Yeah I'm already working on a roleplay I'm going to GM with some of my friends, I'll be using the Savage Worlds system because it's super customizable and easy to use. Probably record it and edit it for YT as well lol
Scout team lost in Tesla city maybe? being somehow teleported to a second city, where the previous residents now live?
I think it's a great idea btw. Never really played any tabletop rpgs though, would like to try but nobody is willing to do so with me.
I mean, it’s likely they got fried but that optimistic look is good
I think the game points out they fried, but still...
I mean, they most certainly get fried.
If people are interested i'm happy to give it a go, i'll give you new reason to fear the frost
Yes I do, actually im the DM for a Frostpunk based game
What’s it about
In short your a group of scouts exploring making allies, and enemies while deciding if the city shall fall or rise
I'll be honest, Deleted User, (😂) anything Frostpunk definitely peaks my interest, but a TTRPG translated into an XCOM-style gameplay loop, would absolutely have my support.
I mean, I've always wanted to get into it
yes yes yes yes of COURSE
Imagine screaming at your fellow player over the table because they used all the wood at the charcoal kiln despite having way too much coal in the stockpile. Beautiful.
Yes, I play TTRPG; have been since the early 1980. I'd be willing to try a Frostpunk universe-based game. I've got published work TTRPGs (minor rule stuff) and have played multiple game systems. Currently a co-founder of, and a senior dev for, a company doing a AAA-quality, superhero/villain based, MMORPG.
You might try The Quiet Year. It's quite suitable for a Frostpunk-themed oneshot.

Since this is a map game, you get to build the city, too.
Dragon bane, pathfinder, starfinder, Mork Borg
