on second thought, maybe don't use these tiles, not out of selfishness but because i feel that these won't be graphically consistent with everything else, since you are the one making most of the sprites here
you are free to edit them to your heart's desire though
Just because Afterlight is making all the graphics for the mod doesn't mean that graphics created by someone else won't be consistent; to me, this tileset is close enough to the original NSMB style, it just needs a few tweaks here and there, don't put down your own creation like that
well thank you, i'm quite a rookie at this though, i'm not ever using prerendering as i originally thought i would to pursue making these (mostly because prerendering is a pain)

Exactly, for me it was perfect since the original game isn't concistent sometimes either lmao, and what you made was already very good but it needed just softer rocks, something like i did. Since i'm the main artist of zstar's hack, if someone else would make a tileset like you, i'd either tweak it out myself while keeping everything as original person made, or tell that person this and that and perfect
The thing i could tell you right now, in case or slopes especially, try make the "bumps" wider like the other slope or normal groud.
And other thing is making more tiles for normal ground but with some variation, in my case i do atleast 2 tile high (not including corners) and 3 tile wide atleast

World 2 doesn't really have any underground levels (the temple level doesn't count), the only underground areas in world 2 are bonus rooms
by "finished", what exactly are you looking for?
every tile that is needed and somekind of decorations fitting overall desert theme

the every tile needed is the thing mentioned here, also corners inside of rocks and i guess that's it regarding the needed ones, regarding decorations, whatever thing that you think could fit into this tileset, could've been new ones or reused from previous tileset
I'm not gonna add any decorations to this ground, I'm only using this in the Mummy-Pokey battle arena as I stated previously
I don't even think I have enough tileset slots to warrant having a third desert tileset
76 tileset slots is enough to have like 95% percent of a tileset each level

Making underwater levels intersting is an underrated skill
I've made like 4 underwater levels in my hack and only one of them is actually interesting 
I'm just really bad at designing underwater levels
There are some really great water levels in NSMB.

i liked crash bandicoot ones as well so you could get some inspo for level design

honestly i just think mario needs to be able to move faster
i think everyone hates underwater levels because the player always moves slowly, and people have been coddled to moving fast all the time
so the change of pace hits them like a brick wall
i find it ironic that underwater levels, which give you complete freedom from gravity, are universally hated by everyone
unless it's like mega man where you just jump higher underwater

Sometimes I'm not fully proud of my own level design, so that's why I'd like people to give detailed feedback more often instead of only saying "looks good"
Is it too hard? Too long? Too boring? The decorations are too distracting? Things like that
admittedly i think theres only so much you can judge about a level from a video

I have one, but it's been a very long since he last tested the hack or I sent him a new patch
I'm not a fan of letting just anyone test my ROM, if someone wants to play-test the hack, they need to be genuinely willing to find bugs or issues that affect the gameplay or the quality of the hack, a lot of people say they want to beta-test the game, but what they really want is to play the hack as soon as possible

The problem is that I don't know if anyone in this community would be willing to spend their time playing through every level carefully and give detailed feedback, there's a few people I would gladly trust my ROM, but I must admit my expectations for beta-testers are a little too high
have you checked any of the other nsmb game modding scenes? or dya not know anyone there well enough to wanna let them play test
