I have unlocked the hidden office with the outfit and dagger, and Congratulation note. But cannot find the jail key.

Glad you found it! You can only interact with the key on the correct quest stage, so it's very understandable to miss it

nope! You can talk to one of the treasure hunters outside the crypt and they will open it up for you to re enter any time!

hmm, I must just be bad at searching then, Ive been running around this crypt for like 20 minutes and not seeing anything I didnt see the first time

even trying random things like using the ignite spell on candles (which seems to do nothing)

There are 4 reasons to go in the crypt:
1: ||The treasure hunters quest||
2: ||The pesky ghost quest||
3: ||The chef quest||
4: ||Hidden room near the end of the crypt, before you get to the Ross fight room||

Uuh, that key allows you to open one of the chests after you fight the mini boss at the end of the crypt

Depending on when you opened it, there was a bug in the Witch's Eve update. That has since been fixed and you can go back and get your reward.
