#Corruption linked to the Dark Ring?

Not as far as I know (could be a plot conspiracy theory behind it, but I think that's not the case here. You'll find out who's behind the corruption when you finish the storyline
conspiracy theorist npc??????
I have finished the storyline, and I know where he corruption is coming from. but the ||drune leader's notebook|| said that the ||corruption seed|| was given to them by a stranger, who may have been a member of the Dark Ring cult.
My current theory is that the Dark Ring is the eldritch god of the corruption and the ||corrupted realm where you fight the Gatekeeper||. I know this theory is based on relatively little evidence, so if anyone else has any better theories, please let me know.
Oooh... I was in a rush, so planned to read the book fully later
that's some really juicy Intel! conspiracy confirmed (I think?)
:edit: reading is hard, especially when it's early in the morning... I thought you mentioned the book said the shady individual was someone from the dark ring 😅 , but you said "may have been"
Between this, Lord Styxian, and to a lesser extent Sendu, SnM has the what could be the beginning of a surprisingly interesting pantheon of eldritch gods.
I do like that theory... Although the Dark ring does seem quite clueless... Although in the cave with the cultists there is also a purple fog, which is also around the corruption
👀
Xanthus isn’t the top leader of the Dark Ring, he’s just some doofus mid-level manager trying to further the organization’s goal
But yeah, the Dark Ring gave the drunes the corrupted seed.
For additional lore, the corruption is the war hinted at in the past in the journals around the astral forge which wiped out the previous race “the star children”
All these are from lore books in game
