Most of the functional stuff for my base is in a bunch of 9x9x9 white concrete rooms below ground. I've been doing some gussying-up of my area above ground πŸ™‚

#

Whoa that's beautiful!

deft tusk
#

omg that's beautiful

#

I recognise some builds from Zaypixel! I built the same barn in my little town hahaha

#

she's honestly the best out there, such a cosy vibe πŸ‘Œ ✨

#

I love the cake shop, honestly great work πŸ‘

lean turret
#

Yes! I love following the tutorials and then introducing a lot of the modded blocks available. It's nice for a more cozy cottagecore feel πŸ™‚

deft tusk
#

100%, that's what I did

#

I followed her tutorial for a wizard tower to build the structure around my Ars Nouveau stuff

#

same with her tutorial for a barn

lean turret
#

I'll share the tutorials I used for my other buildings

#

I think this is one of my nicest builds to date, today we're doing a tutorial for my Medieval Inn! There's two parts to this tutorial, in this video we'll build the complete exterior. Next episode we'll do the interior which includes a wine cellar, common room and bar, and two floors of accommodation for guests.

lol BlueNerd is the other youtube minecraft builder I like the tutorials of

#

learned a lot about making roofs and planning villages from his videos

#

too bad a lot of the builds in my village were already done before I watched his videos, so I made a couple of "happy mistakes"; nothing I couldn't fix to make it look more organic

#

ok, I didn't know Cortezerino, but definitely checking him out

Windmill (I didn't take pics of it because I still want to improve the area around it, but I made this, and turned it into a functioning Create windmill): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FX73gK_fr2g

How to Build a Windmill. This is an easy-to-build windmill Tutorial.

This windmill design offers a grindstone that is run by gears powered by a turbine. You can build this windmill next to your crop farms. :D

omg I've been looking for a good tutorial to make a functioning create windmill out of

#

could you share pictures of yours after you've done the improvements you want to do?

#

also interested in seeing how you connect the windmill bearing to whatever contraptions you have that need the rotational power

Waterwheel house (next to the greenhouse). I put a motor on it to make the waterwheel function... I need to fix it, though, because my trapdoors are all... wonky and stuck in place πŸ˜‚ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seHG85qQb1o

I made a Water Wheel House in my Flower Village.

saving all of these tutorials LOL

lean turret
#

I have a bunch of random create machines next to it, so I need to "house" them πŸ˜„

#

If you like Zay, you'll like Foxel, too

deft tusk
#

the waterwheels in the new create update apparently work at full power even if you only have water flowing on one side

do you have anything inside the greenhouse? I looked at that same tutorial hoping to find some inspiration for a botania area

and a little wheat, so I could cut it with a knife before I set up my rice -> crusher system

deft tusk
#

my challenge in my village is I can only progress in a mod after I've built a structure for it

#

e.g., wizard's tower for Ars Nouveau, a workshop for Create, a tavern/bakery for farmer's delight, etc

lean turret
#

Yeah, I have a bunch of Ars and Botania stuff in my base, but I really want a building for it

#

Absolutely a wizard's tower for Ars rituals

#

My containment ritual is on my "front lawn" πŸ˜„

deft tusk
#

LOL

lean turret
#

I ALMOST made all the pastries for the cafe

#

but I'm missing some maple and... cherries

deft tusk
#

there's some mods that don't have a structure yet, which I regret, but they're just hard to come up with something

#

Mekanism in particular is a tough one

lean turret
#

oh yeah, all my mekanism is totally in the base as well as the AE2 stuff

deft tusk
#

I want something to match the cottagecore aesthetic, but Mekanism really doesn't fit

lean turret
#

the inside of my base is a hot mess, but it works πŸ˜„

deft tusk
#

I'm not going to use AE2 for that same reason: Ars Nouveau can achieve similar results

#

thinking of weening off of Mekanism all together just so I don't have to deal with the aesthetic issues

lean turret
#

I started with AE2 and Mekanism, so I just keep using it

#

So the Wizard's house is the facade for my base

deft tusk
#

sadly I gotta go to bed but really enjoyed the conversation

lean turret
#

in the tutorial, he has two front doors, and the second one he doesn't do anything with

deft tusk
#

I'll be back for more inspiration tomorrow πŸ˜†

lean turret
#

so I put an elevator just inside to use to get down to the main base area

#

Night!

deft tusk
#

If I might suggest, you can use "Framed glass trapdoors" from Create to have connecting textures on this glass panel here πŸ’‘

honest matrix
#

I kinda feel like the square panels work there, specifically because the cakes each take up one panel.

#

The entire thing looks awesome. πŸ™‚

lean turret
#

I wanted to use the regular glass trapdoors to make it look like individual pastry cases and then you can flip it down and grab a slice (if any of my friends come visit).

#

I used the framed glass trap doors for my skylights! I love it better than oak trapdoors πŸ˜‚

deft tusk
#

that makes a lot of sense! πŸ˜„

deft tusk
#

Just to say that I still come back to this thread for inspiration and for the nice list of youtubers with minecraft build tutorials πŸ˜„

lean turret
#

I'm building up my factory around my Create stuff, so I can get some "unslightly" lazy farms out of the way and do a bit more base decoration.

deft tusk
#

I want to see how that turns out πŸ˜„

#

I find hiding the less sightly parts of Create farms is a fun challenge

#

mainly because I want the part the players interact with to look good and be simple (aka make it easy to understand what the machine does, where inputs go and where outputs go), but I still want the behind-the-scenes to be easily accessible in case I need to make any changes

#

in most cases it means I end up having a large behind-the-scenes area, and only a small room for players to interact with the machine

#

my greatest challenge, though, is crop farms and tree farms. The spinning contraptions are really bulky and don't match my aesthetic very well at all

#

I've replaced crop farms with Ars Nouveau harvesting rituals, but the tree farms I haven't figured out how I'll do yet

#

maybe I'll do ars nouveau as well πŸ€”

lean turret
#

Yeah, the create stuff is interesting because I wanted to power it all with my windmill that I made for aesthetic purposes πŸ˜„

#

so it's kind of sitting out in the middle of my "facade" area

#

but I built a building around it for now, but I still need to build a cocoa farm and figure out how to "hide" that πŸ˜„

deft tusk
#

I use electric motors a lot to minimise the shafts crossing through my village

#

connect the windmill to an alternator and the alternator to a flux plug

#

then place a flux point and an electric motor wherever you need the energy/rotational power

lean turret
#

Ooh, that's a interesting idea. I tried the electric motor with my wool farm and it didn't have enough power to work so I stopped using it :/

deft tusk
#

you can connect as many windmills/waterwheels/steam engines as you want to rotors and to flux plugs. If you have a bunch of power sources connected to the same flux network, you can easily generate enough FE to power what you need

#

also, flux plugs and flux points are able to keep chunks loaded, so you can slap a bunch of power generators in one chunk and connect them all to the same flux plug

lean turret
#

Yup, I use flux points everywhere but it was the electric motor that got overstressed on the sheep farm, so I didn't see much use with it except for running my waterwheel for aesthetic purposes. Does more power that is generated into the flux plug help the electric motor from being overstressed, or does the electric motor have a max capacity of stress it can handle?

deft tusk
#

the more power you have in the flux network, the more stress capacity the electric motor can take

#

if the electric motor was overstressed, it's because you didn't have enough power going into the network

#

so the electric motor isn't the problem; it's just that you weren't generating enough power going into the flux network in the first place πŸ˜„

lean turret
#

ah, okay, I'll throw an alternator on the windmill to add power to my overall network πŸ˜„

#

that's good to know, I hate having wasted energy

#

the windmill is max power πŸ˜„

deft tusk
#

keep in mind I think the alternator only converts I think like 70% of the original stress capacity

#

so if you generate 100 SUs from the windmill, only 70 SUs are going into the network. Just something to be aware of in case you notice the power loss πŸ˜„
