next up: vega
They did want to get to 80 km, seems like the final value is short of 60
the auto equence of mirda 1 came out real good
3 launch day
the engine was nonimal
hm, interesting
vega in an hour
we countie with a ballastic trajectory
yay failure!!
they weren't playing cards, they were polaroids
THATS SO COOL
Photos of employees
oo
lol its gonna blow up again
IM A POLAROID FAN
did it do the thing
we saw how those photos floated in the fairing
oh that is really cool
wait yeah thats a fire zero g indicator
not well
15 seconds · Clipped by Mini DrM (Tibininin) · Original video "MIURA1 SN1 Test Flight (El Arenosillo Huelva), October 7th" by PLD SPACE
was the fairing supposed to deploy or
we find the expierment in the phase of expiermnetal retentry
the ear annihilation wasnt
the boat is in the ocean
No
if we find it we will breing it back
oh
i literally cant. my eardrums cry out for justice.
Correction - final call was 46.5 km, so probably sub-50
They definitely wanna fix the spin next time
life-changing mission (my ears will never be the same)
engine didnt look to operating nominal twords the end
sounded like he was on the rocket himself
host claim the engine peformaed nomial, which it did, for the most part
maybe
1: THE ENGINE IS A FUCKING PIPE
or 2: the hot abort took a toll on it
but from the spinning
oh it was spinning to
also is the rocket like in the ground
if it was spinning at a high AoA yeah id see good altitude loss
This was so chaotic
that random scream lmfao
so vibes tho
Ears not operating nominal twords the end
i was dosing off watching scream
Icing on the cupcake is me getting all of my information from Alex in a different server's vc
"MECO"
"AAAAAAaAAAaaaaaiIIIIIEEEOOOOOOOO"
"nominal"
his voice definitely woke me up good
well yeah but still id assume they’d have factored that all in
this music is giving home depot and i love it sm
but I mean
Im actully super proud of spain and the whole team, even tho im not from spain this means alot to me being hispanic, very rpoud of the whole PLD space team
yes
ford
always nice seeing a new company fly and fly well
Yeah
you forgot the machine gun fire in between
I actually think they are at least tied with, if not in front of Orbex in getting to orbit now
Definitely ahead of Skyrora which flew a dart from Scotland, and probably also ahead of German HyImpulse
The only ones definitely ahead are probably the 2 German leaders (Isar, RFA)
you can something like city lights?
which move around rapidly
so they probably were spinning at a high AoA
Very impressive
consiering there long delay from a few months back
Nope, it stays on
there was a big white light that zoomed across the screen after meco
Probably the lights of the nearby beach towns near the launchpad
The parachute is packed in the bottom of the rocket according to the animation I saw earlier
It is
The rocket descends nose-first
Right above the engine compartment
yeah
what im reffering to, which could be an indicating of high AoA which is likley what made them lose thta much p[eformance
@river mist i know you could understand this version of spanih more than me but did you hear a couple callouts syaing something like fire in the ramp?
We'll see what happened. It could also have been the engine not going at its full performance all the time
I used to think Orbex was the leader to first try from the new European LSPs, until they suddenly had a big leadership change
PLD was always "somewhere floating around" but not quite enough progress
While this rocket's engine has no big linkage with the ones to be used on Miura 5 (pressure-fed as opposed to gas generator), the thing that GNC seems relatively OK put them a bit further along
Still a huge gap to an orbital rocket though
No fires on the ramp, launchpad is intact
hole up trying to find it, but i was thikning something on the rocket?
It's actually very much related to the TEPREL-C on Miura 5
It's not the same engine obviously but it's the same engine with a gg attached to it basically
but not im reffeirng to the fire callout
I didn't hear any callouts about fires on the rocket
Idk what happened
But it could have been multiple things
Hmm, good to hear there's relatively high commodity
Bottom line is... this made it higher than Starship
Alright who did it better
Jordi OR all of PLD Space
LOL
y'all Spaniards are a wild bunch
ah no im stupid is what happened
Anyway good to see a partial replacement to the one rocket going to launch in an hour coming a bit closer (900 km to LEO for Miura 5)
there was a cllout ltater that there wasn o fire
jodi sounded like pure happiness
pld sounded like they tossed a mic into a cat 5 hurricane
i couldnt with that scream it sounded like they got brutally murdered😭
pld wins
Vaaaamoooosss!!!!
Un logro impresionante de @PLD_Space y todo su equipo, que consigue un hito histórico!
Más que merecido!! Felicidades!!
Un honor para mí poder ser parte de esta historia y compartirla!
#VamosMiura!
Oh they're back
Miura 1 reentry successful
im crying im so proud😭
CEO claims all ascent objectives were met
well done Spain
spain can into stratosphere 🥳
spain can up 🎉
more that can be said for many
https://youtu.be/9MtwhqRW4cI?si=QtyRNKl_O9VamyBT I raise you this
NASA is set to launch three suborbital sounding rockets in the coming months from Equatorial Launch Australia’s Arnhem Space Centre in the Northern Territory, beginning on June 26. The following two launches are targeted for July 4 and July 12. Sunday's launch will see the BBIX rocket travel to over 300km in space and carry an atmospheric sensin...
it’s specifically the part where a normal callout was immediately followed by a scream that you’d find in an aerospace disaster that has me dead
Following an in-depth analysis of the mission, PLD Space will publicly release the data collected during the inaugural MIURA 1 flight test.
This is so incredibly based
More companies should do this
The mission concluded with the rocket landing in the Atlantic Ocean and the company will proceed with the work of recovering the rocket during the next few hours.
Oh cool didn't know it could be recovered
Spain is going and they are going hard
Not really in the loop with this company. Is their goal just reusable sounding rockets or is the eventual goal orbital flight?
They have been aiming at orbital for years
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miura_5
Miura 5 is a two-stage European orbital recoverable launch vehicle of the Spanish company PLD Space currently under development. Miura 5 will be 24.9 m long, capable of inserting 900 kg of payload into a low Earth orbit (LEO), featuring an optional kick stage that can circularize the orbits of satellites. All stages are planned to be liquid-prop...
ooo neat
Part of that is so they can practice recovering the first stage of Miura 5
They had plans for that even before reusable Electron was a thing heh
Originally it was gonna have grid fins and propulsively land but it's not really that great for a smallsat launcher
Interesting
That would explain why apogee was near 50km vs expected 80km
I'm still confused as to the apparent sight of beachfront lights and then moving around
There are nearby towns

Is there any info on which pad Miura 1 lifted off from?
I need it for my launch record
