HEAVEN OR HELL
this album is just woozy trap soul and hypnotic melodies. he balances hype tracks with spacey cuts that lean onto more of atmospheric vibes. i feel like its this album specifically where he just melts to the beat.
i can definetly see the travis scott influence (considering the fact that all of the songs have trap beats) and yeah, maybe the influence is TOO much but dons voice is just so unique and special, that it just makes this album not feel like an extended version of astroworld.
now with all the praise, i can admit this album isnt perfect. theres some tracks where it just blends and mushes together with other tracks so weirdly that it just makes you feel bored. but overall, a very solid album from don himself

BABY
this album feels like you in a party with your friends, everyone drunk and just having fun. and i feel as if he wanted this atmosphere where in every song feels so alive and filled with emotion to the point where you don't get uninterested.
majority of what this album talks about is love (well, you could already tell based by the album name alone) but it isnt sweet love, more of like a confessional type love
pacing is also interesting. one moment your on a hype track like fire then you switch into an intimate anthem like freak it and then you switch AGAIN with a more deep and melodic cut like kindalove.
overall i find this album really interesting and wanting to explore more of dijons discog

when i heard all the praise for this album (especially the praise for abandon me) AND heard arizona baby (best album ive heard in this list so far) i was hype. and this did not disappoint.
now, i was supposed to review this last night, but i was very tired, and something happened a few hours ago and so i couldnt push out this review out earlier
this album leans into a dreamy and atmospheric vibe (in terms of production which is AMAZING) and overall the album just feels like your floating on a cloud while kevin is whispering things into your ear.
its immersive, its intimate, and overall a great album and probably in my top 5 albums released this year.

MIKA'S LAUNDRY
another brockhampton member wooo
this album is moody and introspective. but kind of with a pop touch to it compared to other projects by other members like kevin abstract. though pop isnt the only genre here, it mixes trap, indie, alternative hip hop, and alt pop. (though there's many other supporting genres that just make this album the most versatile thing ive heard
matt is vulnerable here, focusing on love, self reflection and the everyday cycles of life. his delivery switches between rapping and singing, which is super versatile and most artists that can do this usually make great music, so im excited on what matt can put out next considering this is his first album since brockhampton disbanded

ESSEX HONEY
dev hynes is back at it again with his new album "essex honey" and its the smoothest shit ive ever heard
its laid back and dreamy, and leans into mood more than anything else. airy production, soft vocals and melodies that balance between indie r&b, alt pop, and a little touch of funk
its a short but sweet album, one that feels casual and sweet but still has so many layers of emotion behind it. lyrically it touches on memory, identity, and relationships. but its nothing heavy, just kind of a passing thought you have at times

first sza album, mixed feelings
this is sza's debut studio album, released in 2017. its deeply personal and vulnerable album that mixes melodies paired with sza's great voice and confessional songwriting and that makes it into a universal and intimate album
alot of the songs (like love galore and the weekend) feature catchy melodies that are great for radios, then theres some tracks that show sza's great storytelling (supermodel and 20 something) and overall is just a great peek at how sza would grow as an artist

FRANK OCEAN REINCARNATED CONFIRMED
this album delves into an intimate dive in heartbreak, healing and clarity. much like essex honey by blood orange but with slightly more alive production rather than chill, relaxing beats
thsi album fully leans into smooth neo soul and r&b textures. but honestly the only thing keeping this album from being background music is his production and his voice
lyrically, this album touches into reflective topics but not enough to be bland or slip into clichΓ©s. He balnces storytelling with good emotional worth, and overall just a nice touch

next album is hyperyouth by joey valence & brae
then god does like ugly by jid
then saturation 3 by brockhampton
HYPERYOUTH
this album feels like a literal sugar rush, but is more polished than most albums of its genre. its like old school hip hop and chaotic style music made a baby. this album is brash, its loud, its cartoonish, but not forced.
the production is just filled with playful drums, distorted basses, and a 2000 style touch. lyrically, they dont go too deep (the deepest song probably is party's over but even thats a fun track) instead, they trade punchlines and flows, which makes it feel so alive
but, there are times where it gets one dimensional and boring, which is a pretty big flaw but even then that doesnt do much to the album.

GOD DOES LIKE UGLY
after such a critically acclaimed album (or atleast what ive heard since i havent heard the forever story) idk how jid would follow up such a critic darling
it feels like god does like ugly isnt trying to reach the same level of the forever story, its just its own thing, and i feel like thats a great decision by the man himself. this album arrives as a more ambitious, sonically distinct, and a thematically heavy album
this albums production bounces between mellow and introspective to hype beats made for hype tracks (wrk) but i do feel at times it gets inconsistent but maybe thats just me. and ofcourse, jid's lyricism is just amazing. lyrical themes involve pain, divinity, systematic struggles and many more.
only flaw is its a bit bloated, but i dont mind

SATURATION 3
as the third installment of the very experimental saturation trilogy, this is honestly a perfect closer. it feels like a victory lap and a farewell letter, and it feels horrid to realize that this is the last album where the members of brockhampton were having fun before all the allegations
the production is really random. beat twists from club songs like boogie to more deep cuts like team or bleach. each member brings their own personality, and the transitions between the verses are really well done despite brockhampton being a 10+ member boy band
though i can say there are some songs where it just feels boring, but im sure that just needs growing on

SMITHEREENS
this album is SHORT. like 9 tracks. its split into two halves, first half is his usual style of music (sad music lol) but the second half is kind of this like stripped back and lo fi kinda feel to it and thats where i feel the album shines the best
production is his usual style of music, airy synths, delicate piano and kind of this mellow beat mixed with this hype sound
still, this album lacks cohesion, with only glimpse of us and yukon being the only tracks that feel like an actual cohesive thought

WHERE IS MY HEAD?
this album does good. it shows rich brians confident rapping and vulnerability, showing his rap chops and his willingness to experiment. this album isnt about cohesion, its how brian tests and experiments his artistry.
this albums production is moody trap beats, glitchy and experimental textures, and even beats that compliment rich brian's actual good singing. theres a sense of chaos and disorientation in the tracklist, with experimental cuts like serpent!, mellow and acapella songs like oh well or is it? along with amazing storytelling tracks like timezones
hes self aware, moving from confident bars to reflective tracks that leave you speechless. overall a great album and i enjoyed it

NO HANDS
this is definetly more chaotic than hyperyouth. it leans into chaotic atmosphere, playful wordplay, and rowdy delivery. each of the songs have these beastie boys in your face vibe, but still has that modern hyper didgital feel with joey and brae rapid firing humor and cultural references, and just makes the album feel very alive
the production is heavy with distorted bass and glitchy drums, sounding like something you can just blast into speakers and dance to. its messy in the good way, and it just builds this mosh pit vibe. lyrics is all braggadocio, flexing, and having fun. its raw and unfiltered.
but it does get tiring despite the ecstatic production and fun verses, theres zero breaks, and that feels very overwhelming compared to hyperyouth which has more deeper cuts like party's over

bro magic alive is short ash ive finished half of the album after writing this
MAGIC, ALIVE
album pulls together a blend of hip hop, jazz, and spoken word poetics into a record that feels more like a narrative than a typical album. Where some rappers lean on braggadocio, Dixon doubles down on emotional clarity. pictures of community, grief, joy, and survival is all over the album
production is lush, horns swell, drums roll in npredicatble manners. The pacing avoids boredom. tracks flow into eachother like they're the same track. if anything, this album isnt a playlist album filled with hype tracks, its meant to just sit down and digest, and is definetly an overall great jazz rap project and a serious top 5 hip hop album this year

IMAGINAL DISK
the duo takes their signature glossy synthy pop and pushes it into stranger, more emotional territory in the best way. its glitchy, its surreal, and self aware to the point where all the songs mush together well, compared to other albums who have this quality as a flaw.
mica's voice is this mix perfect mix of this soft and hypnotic sound, with her delivery perfectly matching the lyrics. and the production is sooo good. theres these little beeps and echoes that make it feel so alive, and the synths blending into eachother in a way that just makes you float

new po2 album woooo
this album is high energy, good rapping, great depth, just overall a great album. the production is this mix of modern style beats that fit the song perfectly or some old school vibes. i listened to this in the bathroom (dont ask) and i was dancing all the way through.
SWIM and Jada compliment each other so well. SWIM is phenomenal in rap, dropping bar after bar after bar. meanwhile Jada deals with most of the choruses, and even raps on this album, which makes her really versatile.

DEADBEAT
first tame impala album. very underwhelming
deadbeat marks as kevin parker (or tame impala)'s fifth album in his unique discography. but if im being honest, this album isnt that great, and its clear that the lead singles are the best songs. it has this bland and boring sound that just isnt executed well unlike other albums in the EDM genre, and is my biggest letdown of 2025.

CURRENTS
this is sleek, this is synth based, and this is emotionally introspective but in a way with hooks and melodies that get stuck in your head for days.
tame impala fully embraces pop and r&b influences, layering glossy production over lyrics about heartbreak, change and self discovery. every track feels like acceptance or realization, from the surrender of let it happen to the quiet transformation of yes im changing.
this is very polished, with guitars fading into the background (fully replaced by synths, drum machines and vocoder processed vocals). song flow into eachother in a way thats wave like, fitting for an album named currents.
its clear that the main theme for this album is change. kevin parker reflecting on identity, love, and the discomfort of growing apart from who ou used to be. and overall just makes this album a synthy, transformative and introspective masterpiece.

SON OF SPERGY
new daniel album.
ive been following daniel caesar for a minute, first discovering him from my mates playing his song "Best Part (feat. H.E.R)" on the tv in an empty classroom. from then on, i discovered songs like shot my baby, valentina, neu roses, and recently, who hurt you. all that to lead to this album.
i did not expect a gospel album. yes i saw the christianity and religious themes, but i didnt think much of it. but nonetheless, it being a gospel album doesnt bother much. voices like blood orange, sampha and yebba complimenting as background vocals that add much more emotion to the album.
with such a bland genre (not an offense, im a christian myself), this album is really refreshing for the genre, and is much better than the last major release in the gospel genre which is of kanye west's "Jesus Is King".
overall a solid album from a great artist. do i think its his best? far from it. do i think this is bad? not at all.

DEBΓ TIRAR MΓS FOTOS
i myself, am not too familiar with reggaeton, latin music or bad bunny himself. so when i saw that this album was in the top 5 of the year so far, i decided to give it a listen.
its alright. it draws a lot of puerto rican homage, and has a lot of danceable reggaeton mixed with modern pop. which makes this album a fun listen, and overall gets you hooked on every song with cross generational references that connect even the oldheads who were hesitant about urban music.
lyrically, the album is described as introspective and personal, addressing complex issues facing puerto rico such as gentrification, political corruption, and the loss of cultural identity. and really makes an emotional listen for people who get affected by the problems itself.
overall, while i dont like this album, its overall a good listen and its understandable why critics and people praise this album.

EGO DEATH AT A BACHELORETTE PARTY
i actually listened to this a couple months ago, but i didnt finish it cause i felt sick and really wasnt feeling some music. but now that i have free time, i decided to finish this album.
this album shows artistic and lyrical maturity. with many diverse sounds drawing to sounds like pop, alternative rock, funk and trip hop. its very loud and percussive, which gives an electic approach that contributes a ton of personality to this album and is a good display of creative freedom.
the writing for this album is vulnerable, brutally honest, and deeply personal. themes of heartbreak, loss, and self-discovery run throughout the tracks, with specific songs addressing complex topics like mental health struggles and southern culture and also has a bit of humor, which balances everything out.
not my favourite of 2025, but a very good project still.

WETDREAM
-WillyRodriguezWasTaken
wow. oh wow. how do i even begin? first off, i don think an album has made me cry real tears since vanisher horizon scraper and ants from up there. this album is so intense, so raw, and a real tear jerker. thats evident in the devastating vocals and the loud and intense instrumentations, in which really carry so much emotion and CAN make you go through emotions. hell, i never said a single word in the entire albums length. thats how powerful it is.
the lyrics are depressing as well. fading love, substance abuse, and existential questioning are all prominent themes in the albums runtime, with sounds that turn the most audacious lyric into something compelling. its personal, intriguing, and purely devastating.
the sounds blend emo, shoegaze, and bedroom pop elements with impressive song structures and dynamic shifts. the long tracks, especially "revisited", a 20 minute piece of pure perfection, have engaging progression and ability to evoke nostalgia and a sense of catharsis.
overall a really emotional piece that i quite frankly had a roller coaster of emotions with.

CHOCOLATE AND CHEESE
i listened to this album expecting at least something funny or something good.
i mean, its okay i guess. its pretty half baked, with songs just not being impressive, having horrible humor, or just being repetitive.
the production is very versatile, ill give them that. it blends multiple genres throughout songs, like funk, soul, country and even latin music. and while that sounds like a good thing, it actually isnt (well kinda). the songs can feel underwhelming and just overall feels like a compilation of songs rather than a cohesive album that flows well.
the lyrics are dumb, and overall just isnt as funny as people say. while there are vulnerable moments like a tear for eddie and what deaner was talkin about, with good songs like baby bitch and voodoo lady, its buried under half baked songs like candi.

CHEAT CODES
- Danger Mouse & Black Thought
i normally dont mess with albums similar to this (i mean look at my alfredo review) but this is the only exception
this album is 38 minutes. nothing more, nothing less. and yet, theres zero filler. its filled with strong lyrical bars like "Stop speakin' into the mic and die dignified / I'm that insecticide, pesticide, genocide / You in the morgue, absolutely identified." which showcases strong wordplay and social commentary.
the production is classy and filled with soulful and jazzy textures that say a lot for the album. it blends funk, jazz and lo-fi elements with these r&b samples that are used well, like with the track "sometimes" that has a great r&b sample as the intro, and sets a clear tone. the features were great also, with amazing verses from the likes of MF DOOM, joey bada$$, and a$ap rocky.
overall a great listen, would recommend

SATURATION
saturation trilogy 2/3 finished
this album is solid. some very well made tracks like "HEAT', "FACE", "WASTE", and "GOLD", buried under just boring songs and songs that i personally just didnt enjoy (BOYS). it showcases a lot of experimental sides, and shows a lot of chemistry between the boy band. each person just contributes something to the album and overall just a strong collaborative energy.
the lyrics explore themes relevant to young adults and millennials, including self-acceptance, loneliness, personal struggles, and social issues, which resonated strongly with their audience, which makes for a really nice listen if you like the sound of this album.

VOLCANIC BIRD ENEMY AND THE VOICED CONCERN
we're getting depressed with this one right guys
i really just had to sit in silence for this one, cause man was this deep. first, lets start with the versatility. how do you go from a full experimental hip hop project like MISTA THUG ISOLATION and then go to this thing?? this psych-pop, indie, lo-fi, shoegaze and even ROCK project truly projects alot of Lil Ugly Mane's deepest despairs and mental struggles, projecting deep and heavy things like substance use, the deleting of oneself, alcoholism, and the hate for the common us society are one of the many themes in this album.
and it cant help that this album is so well produced as well, with some songs using melancholy and nostalgia, such as bird enemy car, the intro track. it has these weird, unsettling and cheery samples to make a sense of dread and nostalgia that just makes people uncomfy. and another thing is that this guy drifts away from rapping, and instead uses muffled or raspy singing that often sounds extremely weary and vulnerable, and everything just goes hand in hand.
overall a very solid project from Travis Miller himself, one of the best projects ive heard, id say.

SMILE! : D
by Porter Robinson
its suddenly early internet culture again woahhh
this isnt the first time ive heard about this record, ofcourse, since 2024 was a big year for music, there were a ton of standouts such as scrapyard by quadeca, or i lay down my life for you by jpegmafia, and so on and so forth, but there was one that caught my attention, just a tiny bit. and that was SMILE! :D, i dont know if this actually happened, but i have a memory of seeing this album pop up a ton in "best albums of 2024" lists, so i took interest. tried to listen to it, but couldnt, and now here we are, at the end of 2025. i guess you could say that it took me a year to get this album through??
dont get me wrong, this album is fun, its catchy, its poppy, its in your face telling you to knock yourself out xd (see what i did there?? get it cause knock yourself out xd is the opening track?? hahahhahh) and its filled to the brim with amazing colorful pop, indietronica and pop-punk sounds that really want to make you dance and twerk your heart out.
but i feel as if this album is... how do i say it, a very straightforward lp. it gets rather inconsistent, with some songs just clicking and some dont. and so listening to this really depends on what you like. do you like 2000s pop punk, then this is for you, if you dont, then you probably wont, cause this album lacks the immersive qualities, a thing that albums need for it to be interesting, and so if your halfway through, you kind of just lose interest.

A LONELY SINNER
whats the difference between a lamb and a sheep?
a lonely sinner by samlrc, an album i've been honestly wanting to get into more than i can remember, so when i had free time and the motivation to listen to an album, i decided to spin this out.
honestly not what i was expecting, and not that that's a bad thing, but sort of like its compelling. a lot of these songs are instrumental heavy, with a lot of soundscapes and production choices that really make me imagine alot of things. lets say the second track, Phautia. a very interesting track, it makes me thjnk of grasslands, you know? calm and peaceful and quiet.
i gotta say though, samlrc isnt prominent vocally, usually just providing short verses that sink between the instrumentals, or background vocals, and hey, i dont have an issue with that, i think that the production is lush, its immersive, its good at provoking thoughts, but songs like Storge and Philautia, 11-12 minute songs, without much vocal presence, it becomes a bit boring, and i feel like thats one of the things you can point out on this.

SOME RAP SONGS
sadness spat over great beats
i listened to Earl Sweatshirt's "Some Rap Songs", one of his most well known work and often cited as one of, if not his best album in his discography, so when i spun it, i was hype. i wouldnt say i was dissapointed, but i was underwhelmed.
i should've known by the title of the album when i first played it, "Some Rap Songs". so short and concise rap songs. So naturally all of the songs cap off at a minute, which to be honest isnt much of an issue, but im not the biggest fan either.

HOW I'M FEELING NOW
by Charli XCX
its almost like this is made by charli xcx
today i listened to how i'm feeling now by charli xcx, and if i'm being honest, this truly a mixed bag. not because it objectively sounds bad, no, if i told you that, i'd be high on so something. the reason this is a mixed bag is cause its outside of what i really like.
i do try to come out of my music comfort zone of hip hop, r&b and a little bit of rock every once in a while, and while i do get many projects that i enjoyed from leaving my tastes into new genres, there is equally as many projects that i dont enjoy. and this album is no different.
charli xcx. no need for introduction. hyperpop based superstar that really skyrocketed into the mainstream last year with her album "brat". and in this era also, is when i first discovered her. and for short, i did not like brat. i thought it was overrated and pretentious to receive a 90 critic score.
so i gave her another chance with this album. now, im not the biggest fan. i just felt like the soundscapes werent really appealing, interesting nor captivating, which also was an issue in brat, i also dont find anything, from the lyrical standpoint to the production to everything, non impressive. for the hype i was seeing behind this, i would say i'm underwhelmed. is it bad objectively? no. is it not for me? yes.

so much playful and elite wordplay, hitting you everywhere on every track, and keeping up that consistency considering the fact that this album is 24 songs long? yeah thats incredibly impressive. the production is so ambitious and vibrant, blending genres like funk, techno, gospel, rock and psychadelic soul. SIMBIIII
SOMETIMES I MIGHT BE INTROVERT
by Little Simz
what the hell
this album was in my radar for a long minute now, and i always held back on it until today, and this album is just nothing but amazing.
i've always been aware that the uk hip hop scene isnt really as great as the other hip hop scenes, but i have always been told that there are some amazing acts to come out of the uk. and little simz is one of them, a female rapper in the uk whos incredibly acclaimed, "consistent", and has amazing rapping ability, and so of course i was hype for her. and boy did this not dissapoint.
the sound is theatrical, its cinematic, its grand, which i dont really see much hip hop albums do nowadays, which makes this album one hell of an operatic experience. and you pair that with little simz and her confident delivery and sharp and witty lyricism, you get a modern hip hop masterpiece.
little simz talks about a ton of stuff on this album, like the contrast between her as a person, an introvert. and the public figure, the confident and successful uk act. which is super personal, and thats something i love. family trauma, self discovery, authenticity, and sisterhood are also the many themes accompanied in this album.
i do think it demands a lot, and if you arent really in the right mood, the second half can get really streaky, but hey, i guess thats just me.

by JPEGMAFIA
who actually likes peggy for real
i started off this album with expectations, expectations that derived from community hype, ratings and HAZARD DUTY PAY! and i can say, they were met, met pretty easily actually.
i set out to sail in JPEGMAFIA'S vast discography for the 4th time (if we include devon hendryx), and i set my eyes on the big dog, the worldwide stepper, the black ben of all the carsons, LP! (Offline Version). and the hype and what i was seeing about this album made me think that this album was hand made by heaven itself, which it kind of is, but isnt at the same time??
this album is flooding with comsistency, from his flow, his rapping, the production, the features, EVERYTHING feels super consistent, and there truly no "lowest lows", which is a massive flex considering the fact that on the producer credits, JPEGMAFIA is the only one listed. you know how insane that is? yeah.
id gotta say, his production heere is more sample based than any other album ive heard from this guy, with almost all the songs (like 100 EMOJI! HAZARD DUTY PAY!, and multiple other tracks), and with me saying that, you might think it gets boring? ABSOLUTELY NOT. like i said, the production is insanely cohesive and we see peggy branch out in different sounds and experiments with his production and flow, which is much appreciated cause i never felt bored of this album front to back.

LONERISM
by Tame Impala
hot take: this is better than currents
boy oh boy, was this one good. i listened to this album as a call to start back my week long tame impala obsession yet again, and this one was a good choice after the last album i listened to from him, the stinker "Deadbeat", his newest album filled with bland and boring house music, that truly left me dissapointed.
this album is SOO GOOD. the first thing that truly comes to mind when listening to this album was the production, it felt like the production was the one stealing the spotlight, with numerous tracks showing off the amazing production like apocalypse dreams or endors toi, filled with amazing psych rock, loud drums, and synths, paired with tame impala's signature neo-psychadellia style vocals, it truly makes a one of a kind experience.
an extremely cohesive album as well, with this one hitting you with bangers here there and everywhere non stop. the run between track 2 to track 6 is just PHENOMENAL. filled with amazing soundscapes and tame impala doing what he does at the maximum standard.
i will point out that since the production is sort of grabbing your attention all the time, you can barely hear tame impalas vocals, something he definitely improved on in currents. the second half is also a bit streaky but its okay

damn
this is the final album of the trio (now duo) called Injury Reserve, and honestly, i didn't even know what i was going into when i first tried this album, maybe i expected a lot of hip hop cause ive heard three man weave and i very much liked it, but boy was i wrong.
this albums soundscapes are, i dont know how to describe it, cathartic and overhwelming, kind of like something will always grab your attention while other elements of songs on here try to geab your attention too, so it just makes a super weird, non accessible experience.
a bit of an inconsistent tracklist for me, but i do know a ton of people who fucking love this album, and i can see why, theres emotional depth, amazing songwriting, unique sounds and raw emotional honesty, but i feel as if those phenomenal pros are beaten by the cons, the cons that this album is wayy too dark, challenging and just overall not accessible at all. some moments felt like it dragged a bit too much, with a bunch of short verses that i feel like never really finished.

DAYTONA
by Pusha T
coke rap at its finest
i have always known that pusha t was an amazing man of talent, through some songs like nosetalgia, his new album under the clipse name, and ofcourse, the hype around this extremely short album.
this was produced by the man himself, the influential, the college dropout, kanye west, during id argue one of his best years due to the release of "ye", my second favourite kanye album. but im not here to glaze kanye, im here to talk about pusha t.
the production here is just amazing, filled with samples and beats that really compliment pusha t's iconic ice cold delivery and the features as well, but id gotta say that if you dont really pay attention to what pusha t is saying, the entire album would just fly over your head. which is id say one of the flaws in this critically acclaimed album

KING OF THE MISCHIEVOUS SOUTH VOL. 2
by Denzel Curry
this album feels like a college pool party
i revisit denzel's, rather consistent discography, and instead of looking at the albums section, i stared at the mixtape sections. see, denzel had a bit of traction last uear cause of his mistape, KING OF THE MISCHIEVOUS SOUTH VOL. 2, and i was always interested, mainly cause of the dope cover, but my interest deepened more after i listened to "Melt My Eyez See Your Future", a rap essential.
this album is mainly energetic and wastes zero seconds of your time, but with the occasional sneak in of more melancholic songs like COLE PIMP, and the fact that i believe every single damn song has a feature on it, which is crazy cause i think this is like 13-15 songs. but i do think that there are no true standouts here, just a bit stale and dry cause the hype formula in this album getting used too much, but nothing much of an issue to be honest

i listened to this on a whim after my brain needed an energy boost, and i thought that i could listen to a new album and review it to kill some time. i started eith bocanada by gustavo cerati, but as you can tell, that wasnt really ideal. so i turned to revengeseekerz by jane remover, having already taking interest in her music after listening to her newest ep, which i absolutely loved.
i am so so glad that i didnt listen to the hate i was seeing on tiktok calling jane and this album specifically noise music, and listened to this over frailty, cause WOAHHH ITS SO ENERGETIC AND GOOD. primarily what sticks out to me is jane's vocals, for some weird reason i just love her vocals, it feels satisfying under the loud bananas production filled with bleeps and blips and bass and drops which i found to be amazingly executed.
i really love the songwriting as well, cause under the noise, shes really speaking her shit. with a ton of lyrics with meanings i cant even think of (or maybe im just dumb) and a ton of personal and cathartic messages that offer a sharp and vivid telling of emotional highs and lows, and overall just made me impressed.

WORLD IS YOURS
by MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS
im actually more familiar with this EP than i thought
MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS is a name that i have never heard of before, and it makes sense considering the fact that im not too big on japanese music, let alone japanese shoegaze and alt rock music, so i thought i should expand my taste into other languages, starting off with this EP.
a lot of emotion is present on this ep, from the atmosphere, the vocals and the production, with a ton of interesting and unique melancholic vocals in words that i truly dont understand. but as much as i'd like to talk about the vocals, it has its flaws, when you pair vocals that arent really loud enough for post hardcore, shoegaze and alt rock, and the production is so emotional and loud, you can barely hear the voices.

by Sweet Trip
the name sweet trip is only a strand of hair familiar to me, with the only album i know of them, "Velocity: Design : Comfort." an album that i know nothing of, and this lp does the same.
if you told me to describe this album in one word, on the top of my head, i'd immediately say something like dreamy, comforting and melodic. with a very heartfelt record filled with unique melodies and vocals that feels like someone is holding you in their arms as you fall asleep, or maybe on a cloud, floating in the sky, above everyone else.
but this album is no exception of flaws, with some songs feeling like unseasoned chicken and bland rice, songs leaving me wanting more, and some pretentious choices like the tracks "Song About a Sea" and "Song About a Sun", which to be fair, does not need to be split cayse Song About A Sun doesn't even offer anything to the table

FRAILTY
by Jane Remover
jane remover proving yet again to me, that she's a musical genius and truly the best human oat
frailty is an album that truly refuses to stay on one side. the side of energetic, hyperpop-esque beats that truly make me dance until she switches it up to a more melancholic tone, or of the other side, where shes depressed and screaming into the mic while adding everything she can to make it as overwhelming as possible. nonetheless, this album truly makes an experience like no other, but it depends on you if you'll like that experience.
this album in itself is a little inconsistent with a ton of the tracks feeling a bit hollow especially with what i think are lackluster vocals, but despite that it is MASSIVELY overshadowed by the excellently produced songs like movies for guys, which has ofcourse, a beat switch in the middle of the songs that kinda interrupted the danceable production.

I DIDN'T MEAN TO HAUNT YOU
by Quadeca
oh wow.
this album, ive had quite the left turn with, first listening to this back on september 2025. and i feel like with my new era of a more internet focused taste expanding and expanding, i decided to listen to a quadeca album taht i reviewed under unfair circumstances. what are these unafir circumstances? i listened to this with a massive fever, a big headache and a ton of work to do, so stated in my old review, "everything passed by fast" is kind of just not true now.
truly this is one of the beautifully put together "posthumous" albums ever put out in this decade, filled with some of the most heartbreaking lyrics and the most infectiously melancholic production that is brought to the table across the entire project. and the entire thesis of this album? is truly strange. the idea of dying and then regretting it is so close and so, how do i put it, effortlessly reflective.
despite most of the albums songs stretching from 3 mins to 8 mins, i feel like it doesnt waste much of your time if your truly in love with the music, every second, theres something happening thats truly immersive and beautiful. wonderful quadeca.

DREAMCAST SUMMER SONGS
by Devon Hendryx (JPEGMAFIA)
why are his reissue covers so much better than his official covers
before i get on with this review, rambling and just speaking nonsense, i'll talk about how i found this album in particular. devon hendryx isnt really an odd name in my books, let alone JPEGMAFIA, my favourite artist. so when i started slowly listening to stuff outside his peggy work, is stumbled upon this. and with the help of tiktok showing me a snippet of the beautiful song ChuChu Rocket, i knew i had to tune in.
this album is made up of peacefulness, masterful sampling work and hazy lo-fi feels wrapped into a care package, right at your front door with 50% off. with a rather consistent and cohesive sound thats spread across the 6 track and 43 minute album that really sticks to what its supposed to sound like, a city walk or a sweet dream.
truly a one of a kind experience, jpegmafia you bastard

BOTTOMLESS PIT
by Death Grips
i have three bedrooms in a BAD neighborhood
mc ride looks like jpegmafia amirite? but yeah anyways, for short, i really liked this album and i really did make a good decision for this to be my first death grips album. i have always been a fan of experimental hip hop, and what i consider the holy grail of modern experimental hip hop is jpegmafia, danny brown and death grips. i like the other two, jpegmafia is my favourite artist as of the moment, and so far, from what ive heard from danny browns shit, i really liked too, but death grips is like an ugly duckling you know? i never really understood the hype. so i listened to bottomless pit first so i could understand the mc ride meat train
and wow is this amazing, the name death grips alone speaks violence right, but from the stuff ive heard from these guys, it was always not for me, except this album. its like if you took death grips usual chaos and shenanigans and make them more controlled and recognizable, while still being over the place and excellently produced, you would get, bottomless pit. mc ride as usual grinds my ears with his beautiful screaming, but pair that with the amazing, experimental and weird production, you literally get chefs kiss.

DIAMOND LIFE
by Sade
thanks to rain for the rec
sade is a name that needs no introduction. critically acclaimed, and a prominent name in music, due to the release of her album "Love Deluxe", so i decided to get on the hype train and listened to her debut, diamond life. the album starts off with "Smooth Operator", one of her biggest, if not her biggest song, and sets the tone for the entire album, the rest of the record maintains the same prominent soft and slow groove that i myself dont really evoke anything inside me.
diamond life itself stays semi-cohesive throughout, with some dips and great highs across the short tracklist, with her amazing voice.
not really my best review but whatever, its just great

SPEAK FOR YOURSELF
by Imogen Heap
glossy ass album
imogen heap, and this album became familiar to me when one of the songs on this album, "Headlock" blew up on tiktok, the production was stellar, and her voice fit well. so i was in the radar of her music.
this album is just all around great. the main thing id like to point out was the production, it is just spectacular and excellently produced, and theres a bunch of layers of sounds that do their part to make every single song have complete and satisfying production. unless you're the song "Hide and Seek". insane acapella like song.
tbh at a certain point her vocals tend to wear out a bit and everything becomes a bit boring after "The Walk", but i guess thats just me since the last two tracks are in the 90s. me against the world aha

WELL ISN'T THIS AWKWARD...
by Charles Hamilton
ree-anna? like Rihanna?? ohhh
charles hamilton is nowhere near of familiarity to me, seriously, i do not know anything about this guy, and so when i found this album, i found it a bit alienating, especially cause of the length, but i thought that it would be a cool little album to throw on when im in a good mood, going somewhere and riding a car.
the moment you press play on this album, it immediately slaps you in the face with Charles Hamilton spouting charm, nice flows and amazing production work. this album is truly an album id call the most 2009 album ever, with its topics mainly revolving around two things, that are obsession and rihanna for some odd reason. but somehow makes it work despite on eof the tracks being a whopping 9 minutes long (tbh it isnt that long but its long for an average hip hop song) and the weirdest album cover i have ever seen.

SOMESONGSMADEFROMSOMESAMPLES
by demo
my friend demo made this
this ep wears its influences really well, with most of the influences from "Some Rap Songs" by Earl Sweatshirt, along with some faint reminders of producers and artists like Devon Hendryx (this ep sounds like dreamcast summer songs if you tone it down a bit), Danger Mouse, and a bunch of other luxury/cloud rappers that thrive in sampling, repetition and trippy-ness, if that makes sense.
though i have to say that the talking in the songs kind of annoy me a bit, but that is definetly just me. its rough along the edges, but i do see massive potential in this guy. cool stuff man

LONG SEASON
by Fishmans
finding my inner peace
this lp has been rubbed in my face so many times by tge aoty community, as well as my friend karachokevin (thanks for the rec), who recommended me long season as well. so fuck it, i decided to listen to it
its a very, how to put this, a lush, peaceful and beautiful sounding lp that really, despite the massive runtime for one fucking song (35 mins) dpesnt really make you go "this wasted my time" by the time you've finished the record. I don't know what Shinji was saying in the song, but if i had to guess, its probably extremely depressing, and i'd rather much avoid that.
overall i dont have much to say, its an lp that really confused me when i try and talk about it

THE GHOST~POP TAPE
by Devon Hendryx
i listened to the remastered version on accident. its overheated, but ill listen to the original and change the score soon
the ghost pop tape is an album made by Devon Hendryx, an alias of the popular experimental rapper, JPEGMAFIA. And so i listened to this, this album titled often as Devon's "best work". and while i prefer the batch of songs from his 2009 album "DREAMCAST SUMMER SONGS", i see this as a close second in my books.
"THE GHOST~POP TAPE" is an album that was made by Devon during the darkest point in his life, served in Japan for the air force, he reportedly was facing psychological abuse and horrible motivations from superiors, this album seemed to be his refuge.
this album is filled with drugged out vaporwave synths and heavy layers of autotune, serving as an amazing atmospheric vibe to the entire album. its filled with off kilter samples, standout moments like Call Me Maybe, M.U.G.E.N, Ballad of A Poor Man, and much more. despite it seeming alienating for many people especially for the likes of me, i find this lp to be a very cohesive piece of work by devon.

SCARING THE HOES
by JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown
(relisten & rereview)
if you want obnoxious production, horrible mixing and the worst voices to ever touch my ears, the hip hop scene and this earth as a whole, then SCARING THE HOES is for you. so when you press play you're hit with hot fucking garbage. its like if you took an f1 engine and put it in a blender, then bass boost it and attach it to a speaker as long as a skyscraper and decide to fucking rap on it. people will see "experimental" on the genres list and will immediately glaze the album. jesus christ.

SINCE I LEFT YOU
by The Avalanches
you are not a true plunderphonics sampledelia chud if you havent listened to this album
since i left you is a very mysterious album for me, first knowing its existence when scrolling through tiktoks about dreamcast summer songs by devon hendryx, that dreamcast summer songs was a direct continuation of since i left you made by devon. and since that i loved dreamcast summer songs, i was absolutely cracking my nuts and bouncing around waiting for the right time to listen to this album.
since i left you is the most dreamy, bittersweet and joyous album i have ever heard from an instrumental lp, filled with consistency, high highs and lows, that dont even feel like lows.hell, even the short little jingles like "Avalanche Rock" are good. thats insane. even the interludes are good. The albums seems to have this "audio journey" of some sorts, mainly cause theres a bunch of transitions that flow seamlessly to each other, to result in a very unique atmosphere of disco, hip hop and pop that evokes something beautiful.
absolutely a must listen, i need the score for it on aoty to be moved up a 90. why is it even an 89?

NO IDOLS
by Domo Genesis & The Alchemist
"bitch money talks so shut the fuck up" crazy ass bar
this album came attention to me with the rather intriguing album cover and my overall interest in domo genesis' music. so i started with this album and oh boy
seriously a beautifully produced album here, i was holding my nuts the whole time, as the alchemist just pops off and does what he does best. domo is also a perfect compliment to the alchemists beautiful jazzy and sample heavy production, with a flow and voice oh so recognizable if you're a fan of any member in odd future, and paired with domo's incredible lyricism, flow and maturity that came with such an impeccable album, along with a stacked list of features that do justice.
