I just got the M-51 for Israel and am having much fun with it. The one flaw of it other than armor is the shell. Sometimes it does like no damage so I am curious where i have to aim for them to always work?

It really depends on each tank and their armor layout. Generally speaking avoid anywhere near the track area unless you're point blank and can shoot the side of the hull itself.

Really just treat it like AP that's much more prone to volumetric shenanigans. Hull fronts, rears and turrets are always good options.

#

I recommend investing in the rangefinding crew skill and getting used to using it a lot so you can properly range in your shots before firing.

#

With the M-51 you can blast clean through the front of tiger IIs, Pershings of all varieties, most IS tanks, etc.

Rarely you'll get a shot on the corner of the hull/ track that works, but I wouldn't bet money on it with any consistency.

For light tanks, SPGs, SPAA, just treat it like HE more or less. You'll kill mostly anything you hit in one shot anywhere

Kind of a glasscannon but you can kill like everything

#

Its just strange how the shell acts when it hits

The main advice I guess would be learning where the gunner is on the tanks you face most frequently. It's unlikely you one shot them unless you have a good ammo rack shot, so making sure they can't shoot back is top priority

I shot at the left side of a turret cheek and took out the gunner on right side and the engine

Yeah, weird stuff like that'll happen. It might've hit the cheek, deflected a bit and then went off which directed the jet into something else.

Other question do you think i should rather go for 7.7 israel or 6.7 russia (ground)

#

I want to do both but unfortunately i cant split myself

Honestly, I just play 6.0 Israel and have fun. I don't care about the rest of the tree. 6.7 Russia is pretty miserable, though

7.7 Israel is Just M48s and a Cent Mk 5/1 as far as tanks, which is good, but nothing particularly special.

And 4.7 also kinda eh

#

Not my type

fiery stump
#

Then you'll probably hate 6.7 Russia tbh

sweet carbon
#

So far its not that bad

#

Imma suffer through it anyways

#

Its warthunder its always a suffer

fiery stump
#

Lmao true

#

IDk, compared to US, Germany and France 6.7, russia 6.7 is very underwhelming

sweet carbon
#

Its kind of a pain to face them

#

I have to live in fear at all times

#

But sometimes people are dumb enough to assume im a T34 and shoot at my angled front even tho im a T44

fiery stump
#

The T44 is decent, but the 85mm is a bit lacking at that point, especially in uptiers

#

The ISU-122-54 is fun, but has strangely weak frontal armor.

#

I'd rather take the jump to 7.0 and play with the T-44-100 and Obj 268

I fucking love the m-51 it’s the definition of a glass cannon you can shoot nearly everywhere and either get a crit or a straight up kill, sometimes it will be weird and do barely any damage regardless of where you hit it, i usually go for ammo it’s a sure fire way to kill most things for me you’ll make light work of everything from open tops to medium tanks even heavy tanks you can deal with. You just can’t bring it brawling pretty much any shot will kill you, i usually find a nice sniping spot maybe on the side of a hill cause it’s got good gun depression can be annoying when you hit a tree or fence before your target tho.

Bingo. Max out crew rangefinding, post up and drop shots in on fools.

It's the same round as on the AMX-30 tanks, and you'll die in one shot to anything anyway so it's pretty up-tier proof.
