if you have enough to get 5K GE i recommend getting the 288 and your sl problems will go away and also the F2G for 20 bucks iirc is also a good way for money.

and play air assault arcade for the free booster if you win

F9F-2 is a better plane for its BR than the F-4E, but a better bet if you can is just to skip it and play your Sabres, F-84s, the F2H is at 7.3 now so it isn't bad also, but if you are just picking between F9F-2 vs F-4E you will probably have a better experience playing the F9F-2 than getting rammed by 11.3-12.0s in an F-4E, 11.0 match making is like 75-65% up tiers from my experience, and the F-4E has been a mid-tier plane for a while after they added PD radars.

TBH, idk if most new players are just for the new shiny top tier stuff but I find most of 9.7-12.0 sort of boring in terms of gameplay. It doesn't keep me engaged as much as low tier/mid tier jets, and props. But idk what your goal is, for grinding jets, 10.3, 8.78, 7.0 Br is where you will find the easiest time to get RP/SL.

F-4E is an end of the research line vehicle, so every researched module costs twice as much in terms of RP and SL

yeah dogfights are really fun, it's just unfortunate that at 11.3-12.0 you don't get that kind of gameplay as often since you just either get 3rd partied or everyone dies to head on missiles lmao

I would strongly recommend learning the basics of energy fighting, makes War Thunder a way better experience. Instead of getting slammed each match you can actually do well and not get sick of dying 24/7. It takes a bit of effort to understand though but once you do, you will do a lot better since War Thunder has no skilled match making so just being above average will make you better than most players you match.

It depends on what you are watching and this starts to just narrows down to figuring out what you are doing wrong and why good people do certain things instead of something else. It's like learning anything new in general. I do recommend DEFYN videos though. He has videos of him flying certain aircraft so you can learn the advantages and disadvantages of the plane you want to fly.

If you can learn energy fighting you can pretty much apply that to any plane from props to super sonic jet fighters. If you are serious enough to learn how to do proper dogfighting I would start out playing low tier ARB. You have time to pick and choose targets, think about how to you want to engage. Everything is slower paced and you don't have to worry about 3rd party missiles from space. But for most people who buy top tier premium aircraft, or people that just play jets in general it is really boring.

Also players at low tier are less experienced so you are more on a level playing field.

Yeah tbh if you are not having fun play War Thunder, it's just a game, so just stop playing it for a bit. I find low tier props more fun anyway and repair costs are not super expensive. It's a game at the end of the day so it's not the end of the world.

I can't progress cuz I either get lower sl's than my actual repair cost, I've been stuck in tier 4 for 2 years and now tier 5 for a year now

Just understand that in learning dogfighting It's going to suck, you will die a lot.

And, instead of focusing on progressing just play the stuff you like that you have right now, if you focus on what is new and shiny then you will burn out. I would spend some time playing vehicles that you haven't tried before or doing something else, eventually you will just find out that you researched something. It's a game so if you are tunnel visioned on what is next eventually you will just burn your self out because when you get to rank 7-8 it takes ages to get anything.
