Hi! Over the past 2 weeks I’ve been playing in the American tech tree and I’ve been doing pretty well with most of the BR’s in GRB but lately I’ve been struggling with 5.3 America, Especially with the Jumbo and I need advice. I’m open to suggestions so if you have any feel free to spill the beans if yk what I mean. Thanks!

Jumbo, don’t angle too much. Show your frontal armour as much, but make sure you keep shaking your hull to avoid them shooting your major frontal weak spot - your machine gun port
Flank and spank the enemies especially tigers
They can be a pain to penetrate frontally with APCR
M36 Jackson is a sniper, use it in a sniping role
M4A2 (76)W is a support medium vehicle

usa 5.3 really is a difficult br, you face germany almost all the time which has superior guns and armour and pretty much the only reason why germany doesnt completely dominate 5.3 is because of german mains being german mains
abuse the shit out of the shermans stabilisers, take out barrels, tracks etc, go for the giant cupolas with aphe, learn what you can pen and what not, try to keep fights at lower ranges since itll increase your chances
for the jumbo in particular you can give the germans some of their own medicine, they cant really pen you when you angle correctly except for the weld where the side armour and ufp meet and the mg port, the weld is as trolly as the T-34s ufp tho and you can just cover the mg port up with some bush or other decorations
its absolutely useless at long range tho since you only have the 75mm so stay at low range with it, shoot tracks, barrels and then go for side shots

Use its 76mm cannon to effectively destroy tigers and others
You have virtually no armour so avoid taking any hits
You do have 5 crew members though
Use your .50 cal to your best such as destroying tracks, anti aircraft and others

Alright thanks, also I have both Machine gun ports bushes up on almost all my tanks so I don’t have to worry about that but that’s for the advice.

^ use protection analysis to learn your opponent’s weak spots

oh and when playing the jumbo, id advise you play a bit more relaxed, dont take chances etc, your armour is on the same level as the tigers so just play it safely, think about what youre doing etc

IS 1, IS 2, and most 85mm equipped Russian stuff can be killed by shooting the Cupola with aphe. Even with the US 75mm.

judging from my own 5.3 usa experience you dont need to learn a lot about russian tanks, in all my 5.3 usa games ive not faced germany exactly 3 times and faced russia exactly 2 times

It's still useful to know because your matchmaking luck may differ from others. Also the info is still useful for later playing different tech trees or fighting China.

Jumbo can also be killed in the lfp sometimes it'll just get the suspension though
