#Climbing Chart

I just experiment with different things till the altitude numbers go faster lol. A lot of the charts don’t make sense to me
I don't think theres a climbing chart but I've done a lot of experiments in test flights before.
What plane do u want to climb speed for, I have everything stored in memory
@keen sequoia
Bf 109 and Fw 190, primarily. I know the Bf 109 is supposed to be good at climbing, but a lot of the time I get out climbed by P-51s and Spitfires, so I must be doing something wrong.
which 109?
F-2 and F-4, if you know them.
idk about the f2
but for the f4 its around 260 ias
and above 4000m its around 250
btw the g2/trop doesnt actually climb better than the f4
tested it out
it only starts climbing better when its over 5000m
There is definitely a climbing chart and yes it's outdated
Generally you want to climb 20-30kph+ faster than the speeds specified
So on most planes e.g. bf109s, yaks etc I climb at around 280-300kph
That should be enough that by the time I'm at altitude I have enough energy to engage the enemy
that is definitely too fast for yaks
Not at all really
which yak do you mean then?
i'd only climb at that speed for the yak9ut
270ias max for any other yaks
thats pretty obvious
I mean it's more crucial for the yaks that retain more power at low alt
that does not mean you shouldnt climb
and getting as high of an alt as possible is better
The high speed of your climb means you'll have less time to accelerate to faster speeds at mid alt than you were at lower, so when you meet an enemy, say around 3-5km horizontally away you can level out and accelerate to speeds quicker you can do maneuvers effectively at in the safe side
I never said you shouldn't climb as high as you can
I only specified why climbing at faster speeds than the chart says is better
an extra 20kph is not gonna really make a difference in levelling out and gaining speed
just level out a bit earlier instead
still, its a matter of personal preference
from the tests i conducted around 4 months ago 260 ias seems to be the optimal climbing speed for most mid tier yaks
just did my own test rn
both 260 and 280 had reached 5km at almost same time around 4 min 10-15 secs *for yak-3
on the test flight map
did it with limited 20 min fuel
and kept to mostly 96% throttle to avoid overheating
ok i did the tests with 0% radiator, 100% throttle and 90% prop pitch
