cough cough
i miss treekiwi
look at them birds
Thought this thread was made 6 days ago 😭
I was really wondering why yall were talibg about finnland and confirmend species
What we know so far from Steam Page:
Moose
Whitetail Deer
Brown Bear
Black Grouse
Capercaillie
Raccoon Dog
Moose
Definitely, I hunt those in Finland IRL
Possibly Lynx,Reindeer and Roe Deer
Mallard
And I'm pretty sure Mallards were in the clue pics
Roe deer, definite possibility.
Wild Boar, possible
Fallow as well
Some sort of Hare/Rabbit species
Yes snowshoe hare
GIB WOLVERINES
black grouse, capercaillie, hazel grouse, willow grouse, brown and northern hares, moose and white-tailed deer, and the mallard badger, beaver, fox, mink, muskrat, pine marten, and racoon dog.
These could be pretty likely tbh
Pine marten will be fun since they stand up like bears so easy shots
Yea but if its a finland map it really needs wolverines and beavers
Those would be amazing to hunt
Eventually they need to add squirrels
For like, layton, mississippi, possibly yukon
But finland is not finland without wolverines and beavers
Chamios live in the area too
Sadly not an entire list
First message is part of an official list, rest is just speculation
Rip
This is the current known species
There are whitetails in finland?
Yup
Messy
But they really should add wolverines and beavers, maybe add the chamois to this map as well, and it would be nice to see some otters, and if you try to shoot them it gives the “target invalid”message
Otters would just be for some cute animals to look at
There are no chamois in finland
Nope
Are there
Nope
From these hunting reports there are in some regions
Not too sure about the coast tho
Not in the wild I think
it's not in the steam page, but mallards were in the clues
Well maybe finnish forest reindeer then
Yea
Possibly
I am hell-bent on beavers and/or wolverines
Where mallard?????????
Beavers are questionable but something like a badger or wolverine would be amazing
In the screenshots
Ok I'm gonna make a list just for the sake of it, (C) means officially confirmed
Here's mah speculative list:
- Western Capercaillie (C)
- Black Grouse (C)
- Whitetail Deer (C)
- Raccoon Dog (C)
- Brown Bear (C)
- Eurasian Wolf
- Finnish Forest Reindeer
- Roe Deer
- Wild Boar
- Red Fox
- Wolverine
- Elk (Moose)
- Mallard (C)
- Eurasian Wigeon
- Northern Pintail
- Gadwall
- Snow Goose
- Northern Shoveler
- Goldeneye
Red deer - I don't think so, they are illegal to hunt over here
probably there aren't going to be so many ducks so I could replace them with a hare or something else
they are?
Yup
what about reindeer?
If you got the tags for wild reindeer/caribou, sure
ok I'll replace red deer with finnish forest reindeer then
they will prolly go with just reindeer but I like to go subspecific 😎
Musk Ox? They've been introduced
Wolverine are also not hunted in Finland right?
Last I read there were only like 700 in all of Finland
They aren't
wolverine illegal? 😢
Yup
are eurasian beavers game in finland
Don't think so, but Canadian beavers are XD
Black bear are illegal in Mississippi
Two species, European and Canadian, one is native and other is introduced. One is protected and other isn't. Guess which one
Adds to fuel to the fire of Wolvies in Finnland
Do we think they'll add multiple Grouse species?
Indeed it is
obviously, the canadian is the protected one
Would there be Ptarmigan in Finland?
Yes, but much further north than I think the map would cover
Ah, shame
does that matter though, maps usually cover a wide array of environments
I can also say at least a species of goose is confirmed, because those fly by at 0:08 of the trailer
Could be Canada goose and possibly some domestic species as well
Willow grouse?
Would be very cool
Mandarin duck, blue winged teal, Northern Widgeon, Shoveler....
King Eider as well.
Red necked Grebe
May not be a season per say, but like in South Dakota you can hunt bison in Custer State Park ($5000 for a bull). SRP is a reserve after all, may not be state regulated 😁
Actually, we call the maps reseveres but SRP is in fact a section of national forest, so it would be illegal
Between that and the bears in Mississippi, Wolverines might be in Finland
Most likely will have wolverines
Crows
I wouldn't get any hopes up with wolverines, but I hope I'm proven wrong
Mandaring ducks are very rare here
This is my final prediction:
Moose (8)
Brown Bear (7)
Finnish Forest Reindeer (6)
Whitetail Deer (4)
Roe Deer (3)
Wolverine (2)
Raccoon Dog (2)
Beaver (2)
Badger (2)
Mountain Hare (1)
Capercaillie (1)
Black Grouse (1)
Hazel or Willow Grouse (1)
Mallard (1)
Pintail (1)
Eurasian Wigeon (1)
Goldeneye (1)
Taiga Bean Goose (1)
Greylag Goose (1)
The biggest wolverines can get to 70 pounds, they might be class 3
Other than that, ot all sounds reasonable
But Peccary are tiny and they are class 4, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Tbh, weight and class are a bit messed up sometimes, like all the bobcats are way to heavy
Never hunted them, but if they are anything like their swinish cousins, it actually makes sense
Thing is, a max weight Peccary weights 31 kg, while a max weight Boar weights 240 kg. Bit of a discrepancy
It's not about weight for them, it's about durability. Pigs are unusually durable for their size, the rifle that struggles to kill other other 300 pound animals might just make them angry. If javelinas have a similar overbuild body, class 4 is arguable, tho i agree that a 7mm is a bit overkill for them.
Wolverines are as durable as other animals for thier size, but they have an insane mental resistance and viciousness rivaled only by their distant cousin, the honey bager. I would not dare use a 22 Hornet on them. 223 minimum sounds more reasonable.
Bruh, Peccary aren't even real pigs. It's really insane that we are allowed to hunt them with a .308
Hence, why i said "like their swinsh cousins"
They are not pigs but they are closely related
The group they belong to is a new world pig or something like that
But that's besides the point
Yeah, my point is they are much more slender and slim. Should have said that instead of what I said
But I agree the 22 hornet is to small for a wolverine
Tbh, I find it to small for some other rank 2 animals as well
Like the Coyote and the Musk deer
I mean it would kill coyote if you are a farmer defending his chickens. Wouldn't hunt them with it though
In any case, class 3 sounds more like where wolverines should be, since they can apparently get bigger than Coyotes, and are vicious
I'm looking at the weights of what we have in game and it's weight would put it right between 2 & 3
But seeing the Bobcat is 3 (which is silly) I must admit you are probably right with it being 3
Bobcat really should be 2 though, as they are irl hunted with 22 hornet
But that's off topic
Confirmed species list so far:
Capercaillie
Willow Ptarmigan
Goldeneye Duck
Black Grouse
Hazel Grouse
Eurasian Teal
Eurasian Wigeon
Tufted Tuck
Rock Ptarmigan
Raccoon Dog
Greylegged Goose
Tundra Bean Goose

Mallard Duck
Canada Goose
Lynx
Brown Bear
Moose

eurasian teal
eurasian wigeon, my bad
Was the duck ruffed or tuffed?
Yup, googled it and google gave me the finnish name immediately so I figured that was it
did we get pics?
Heres some from the stream
Thats the western capercallies
Male and female if im correct
Also i think the great one is on a different map
From how kiwi put it, the great one wasnt going to be on finland
second's a black grouse
Yup, in the second pic it has black grouse male and hen on them.
