Welcome to Uganda, the country which the Nile River originates from, there was a time when you could hunt everything from duiker to elephant here but these days most of the focus is on our plains game animals, and its a good thing as we have a wide variety of antelope species from the commonly hunted Impala to our iconic Sitatungas and Ugandan Kob, and if you look in the right places you will also find Lesser Kudu.

Now of course its not all antelope here, we do have record book warthogs harassing the farmers and herds of zebra grazing alongside the various antelope, but we also have some more dangerous game living here:

  • The waterways and marshes are home to Nile Crocodiles, a reptile that claims dozens of lives every year
  • The woodlands are home to the elusive leopard, they often hide in trees to hunt prey and avoid competition with the spotted hyena
  • And the savannahs are home to the Cape Buffalo, an animal I am told you are very familiar with from your time in Southern Africa

Of course weather your hunting kob and hartebeest on the savannah or chasing buffalo through the trees you will want a rifle that can handle the job and the 9.3x62 Bolt-action Rifle will handle just about anything you can hunt in Africa

Returning Species (They will all recieve remodels)

  • Cape Buffalo
  • Lesser Kudu
  • Warthog
  • Side-striped Jackal

New Species (15)

  • Nile Crocodile - Class 8
  • Plains Zebra - Class 6/7
  • African Leopard - Class 7
  • Defassa Waterbuck - Class 6
  • Lelwel/Jackson's Hartebeest - Class 6
  • Spotted Hyena - Class 5/6
  • Ugandan Kob - Class 4
  • Sitatunga - Class 4
  • Impala - Class 4
  • Olive Baboon - Class 3
  • Northern Bushbuck - Class 3
  • Oribi - Class 2
  • Mantled Guereza - Class 2
  • Helmeted Guineafowl
  • Egyptian Goose

There will also be some changes to Vurhonga with this map that will be detailed further down

#

New Weapon: The 9.3x62 Stalker, a bolt action rifle capable of taking everything from impala to Cape buffalo, it uses a calibre that has been used worldwide for a wide variety of game (You can probably guess what rifle this is based on using the name as a clue)

  • Capacity: 4+1
  • Price: 65,000
  • Can also be obtained through one of the missions

Of course with this reserve there will also be some changes for Vurhonga

  • with the Lesser Kudu having a new home, two species from this reserve will be able to replace the Lesser Kudu & Eurasian Wigeon on Vurhonga
  • The Impala will replace the Lesser Kudu on Vurhonga in all the ways that are important
  • The Egyptian Goose will replace the Eurasian Wigeon since the Egyptian Goose does in fact live in South Africa, Botswana and Uganda
    • Plus the Eurasian Wigeon appears on 3 European Maps anyways
  • The Plains Zebra and Guineafowl can also be backfilled to Vurhonga, its why I did not list a specific subspecies
#

Species not being added (And this list is not up for discussion)

  • Lion, Elephant, Giraffe or any of the Rhinoceros Species - Better included on #1195097534239088720
  • African Wild Dogs - Kind of pointless to include when Africa is home to a variety of legally huntable big game species
  • Eagles/Vultures/Other Predatory or Scavenger Birds - Just No, go play Project Hunt if you want to hunt eagles
  • Crowned Cranes - Also No
#

Also just forgot but here is how the map could look (drew it up rather quickly)

The biomes of the reserve (Ecoregions: Victoria Basin Forest-Savannah Mosaic, East Sudanian Savannah, Northern Acacia–Commiphora bushlands and thickets)

  • The south-central and western parts of the reserve are dominated by a savannah-forest mosaic that is home to impala, bushbuck, buffalo and leopard
  • There are two massive lakes in the southern half of the reserve, one lake dominates the southeastern corner of the map and is surrounded by papyrus swamps
  • This lake features several offshore islands which are a prime area for sitatunga and waterfowl, though hunters can also find animals like crocodile, geese and monkey
  • The smaller but still giant lake sits dead centre and is surrounded by papyrus swamp and swmapy woodlands that are home to crocodiles, geese and sitatunga
  • The northern and northeastern areas consist of savannah and open canopy woodlands dominated by accacia trees and trees from the Commiphora genus. This is where you will find the Lesser Kudu
  • The rest of the reserve is made up of open savannah that is home to zebra, kob, hartebeest and the hyenas that prey on them

For the end of the reserve campaign there should be a mission where you can hunt a Ssese Island Sitatunga

That would be so cool

The Returning Species: Basically every species on Vurhonga needs some work and I figured for this reserve the Buffalo, Warthog, Lesser Kudu and Side-striped Jackal would recieve some of these remodels

The Ugandan Kob can be featured as well

But I suppose this would be a good segway into the chosen antelope of this reserve: Impala (Which will replace Lesser Kudu on Vurhonga), Northern Bushbuck, Ugandan Kob, Defassa Waterbuck, Jackson's Hartebeest and the star of the reserve: Sitatunga

#

Other notable plains game includes Plains Zebra (which can be added to Vurhonga), Olive Baboon, Oribi (forgot to include it with the other antelope) and Mantled Guereza

#

There are also 2 bird species present: Egyptian Goose & Helmeted Guineafowl. The goose could replace the Eurasian Wigeon on Vurhonga since the wigeon now occurs on 3 European Maps, and the Helemted Guienafowl could also be backfilled to Vurhonga

#

As for the large predators there are 3: Leopard, Spotted Hyena and Nile Crocodile, all very dangerous and capable of killing the hunter. The crocodile in particular can make sitatunga hunting even more challenging as they inhabit many of the same areas on the reserve

Well we have been getting reserves around the world for so many years and they keep saying they wanna do it right with Africa. I do not understand why they do not just put Africa in their regular map cycle instead of being so focused on doing it "right", they just seem obsessed with making a big 5 map for the africa 2.0 which could take years from now. It is frustrating that they waited so long with Africa that they insist to wait even longer to make an africa map.

Some quick multi-mount ideas

  • Savannah Stand-off: A Spotted Hyena is trying to steal an Impala that a Leopard just killed
  • 1 Male Leopard
  • 1 Male Impala
  • 1 Female Spotted Hyena (Female Spotted Hyenas are bigger then males and therefore could make diamond)
  • Monkey See, Monkey Do: An Olive Baboon is being copied by a Mantled Guereza
  • 1 Olive Baboon (Male)
  • 1 Mantled Guereza (Male)
  • The Nile Terror: A Nile Crocodile is hunting a Sitatunga
  • 1 Male Nile Crocodile
  • 1 Male Sitatunga
  • Buffalo Stomp: 3 Large Cape Buffalo bulls are gathered together
  • African Boar Boys: 3 Warthog boars are thrashing about
  • Death from Above: A Leopard jumps down on a Northern Bushbuck
  • 1 Male Leopard
  • 1 Northern Bushbuck ram
  • Bonecrushers: A pair of Hyenas are hunting a Zebra
  • 1 Male Plains Zebra
  • 2 Spotted Hyenas (Male & Female)

Some Cross-Reserve Multi-mounts

  • Clash of Kings: A Lion fights off a Spotted Hyena over a warthog kill
  • 1 Male Lion
  • 1 Male Spotted Hyena
  • 1 Warthog boar
  • Kalahari Assassin: A Leopard attacks a group of Springbok
  • 1 Male Leopard
  • 1 Male Springbok
  • 2 Female Springbok
  • Migration: A herd of Zebra and Wildebeest migrate together
  • 2 Blue Wildebeest (Male & Female)
  • 2 Plains Zebra (Male & Female)

After that, they can make a map without it being anything so perfect, at least with gradual remodels of these animals, and if possible, modify the duck and the lesser kudu with something feasible. For a new African map, something the same size as the others with 19 species, but not necessarily the ones we expect, that's fine. The game shows that it's evolving little by little, and by using Africa, or another less-used region, they can take the opportunity to gradually improve the game until they get to elephants, etc. But a map without elephants, giraffes, or other animals of that kind, personally, doesn't bother me.

It's official Way of the Hunter is officially dead

That's everyone

And EW, this map would be literally perfect. Africa is in desperate need of filling out and it can house as many maps as NA or Europe. Would certainly give more things to put in the safari lodge

Now I did not list a subspecies of Plains Zebra for this map due to the assumption that zebra could be added to Vurhonga, but when I think about it the subspecies in South Africa and Botswana are different from Uganda which not only has Grant's Zebra but also Maneless Zebra (second image) which can both be hunted in Uganda

Disclaimer: This reserve does not feature animals like Gorillas as a huntable species fyi

wind copper

It's not even that they're endangered

Great apes are too close to people to the point where like 99% of modern hunters would feel like a monster

dim sail
# wind copper It's not even that they're endangered Great apes are too close to people to the...

And yet some people would want animals like gorillas in this game because “its just a game” or “its just a bunch of pixels” which is a low effort justification

Elephants can be justified because they are currently legal to hunt in multiple African countries, though Uganda is not one of them and is part of the reason I excluded elephants (and lions)

My other reasons for excluding elephants and lions are

• This is a Plains Game Reserve that focuses on antelope

Yeah also, a lot of people would like a more realistic experience

Though my thing was more that I'd feel like a monster

I'm here to chip in to ask about your ideas on the story/missions, and pois? What pois would have facts about the wildlife and africa's and specifically Uganda's people and wildlife?

And fun and sad historical fact about reserves in Eastern Africa.
When Eastern African countries took their independence from the British in the late 1950's to at least 1965. They saw the wildlife parks and reserves as huge playgrounds for the British and they say they were little productive to their countries. When the British left they saw a large opportunity for food (litterally overhunting). Because of political instability and wars
lots of animals were overhunted.

Because of wars and politics Hunting has been either banned or restricted in most East African countries. At one point the Elephant population in Kenya was at 400 to 1000 animals left!
