ethics of cheating modding is a old age thing. some people hate it some dont think as it as bad. the thing is in this game the time you generally spend for certain trophys it really makes it worse than other games

Just makes no sense to me. Sure it took me 5409 kills on Hirsch to get this, and it was brutallly painful....but look at the reward. Nothing cheated could replace that feeling of spotting it for the first time, your heart racing as you stalk it to get that perfect shot. The anxiety of not knowing if you're gonna botch it.

Absolutely. To be honest I don't really give a crap what people do in their own time on their own maps. Don't bring that crap into MP...don't bring it in here trying to claim it's legit...and don't mod in stuff like Haggis and ruin everyone's fun who are trying to study them and learn everything about them the proper way. What you do in your own free time...whatever, if you have fun doing it. I know that opinion is a bit controversial. I don't care though as long as you're not harming other people.

I have almost 50 Great Ones and they just don't feel that special anymore, it's just another animal that I spent way too long on hopping from tent to tent.

But the Haggis.. I wasn't excited that much about an animal in maybe 2 years

I do have to disagree there. Cultivating your own map and your population is really enjoyable to me. I don't just HM my grinds though, I do it to every species on the entire map even when roaming. It's like culling irl for getting those good genes, and waiting years to take a trophy animal when it's reached it full potential. Creating your own worlds on your own maps is very fulfilling to me.

Judging by his address he's in Texas, I think the pickerel is the closest he'll get there. Too far south for Pike and Muskie mostly. They're more cold climate. They have monster Gar in texas though.

This is everything I've done and discovered so far:

• I haven't killed a single animal with this account yet.

• I've only completed the first two missions.

• I haven't unlocked all the outposts yet.

• I found him without any tents.

• I found him at 11:50 AM, but he was moving around and not in a specific zone.

• The haggis is moving more than eating.

• You can't lure the haggis with the feeder.

• Calls have no effect either.

• You can barely hear the haggis's call from 100 meters away.

• Even the Benelhag in my inventory doesn't help; I had the standard weapons like the Ranger with me.

So what I’m seeing from Masi, who has the only dime we know of, is that this is nothing more than pure luck.

I’ve attempted every theory and trick we’ve thought of, and despite searching for 160+ hours now, I’m just very, very unlucky.

I agree with Funky, the trigger is just going to the region where mission 2 is, even if you didn’t do the mission.

It can’t be mission 2 or the benelhag either because people have gotten the haggis without completing those.

we know it will only have two zones thru the entire 247 period that will more than likely be within 400m or something of eachother, and then we know once spawned it doesnt leave, it leaves all tracks, its tracks disappear within 45 minutes real time like other animals. and we know that it cannot be heard past 100m we know it doesnt go to feeders or any calls and we know it has a spawn mechanism that hasnt been used before with any mission animal. so i assume its do mission 2, it has a set area to spawn, it chooses two zone spots randomly, and travels in between those two zones more than it sits on them. the chances u grab its zone hunting ur entire top 2/3rd by yourself is slim to none hince why they say so rare

The grouse theory was an excellent one, and a bunch of people tested it. I think it more had to do with them being in people's codex because Haggis are in the areas grouse are in.

My running theory is that doing mission #2 takes you across the waterline(river and loch) border into "Haggis Territory" where all of them have been found and that crossing that border is the spawn trigger. Since people have gotten them without even doing missions. Doing Mission #2 and searching the known areas using my map is I think the best bet.
We will never know though, and the devs will never tell us the trigger mechanic anyway even if we get it right. Those are the 2 confirmed things that everyone has done though that has gotten them.

Honestly that's the best way to do it imho. Just hunt normally in the areas they've been found and hope to get lucky. Check all calls, tracks, zones, and disturbed veg if you have it while hunting other animals.

I think that at this point, it doesn't take anything unusual to spawn it, as they say, it's probably just a matter of doing the second mission and crossing the water line. I think the tricky part about finding the Haggis is simply that it can smell you from far away very easily, and we don't realize it because its warning calls can only be heard from 100 meters away. As Ben said, the Haggis is probably on our maps already and I think many of us have already been close to it and scared it away without realizing it

In my opinion, our best bet is to do what Munky said and use scent eliminators, and luckily, with patience, we'll find the Haggis

Scent cover does not work, I can vouch for this. I hunt up close and I have used scent cover and have not used scent cover. It doesn't matter if you use it when the wind is not in your favor and you are in a stand/blind not moving. The animals still scare.

I absolutely disagree with this. I use scent eliminator all the time. I still always try to hunt downwind, but it does work. I've heard so many people say that moving makes it not work also. That's not true either, it's your sound that spooks them not scent eliminator not working. Test it yourself. Go to an animal without scent eliminator on that has gone alert from your scent and not sound or sight. Then apply the scent eliminator. It will go back to calm.

I play on Xbox, I have animals flee from my scent when I have scent cover on sitting in a stand/blind. I'm not moving, nothing. They flee even at over 100 yds. I have tested this over and over again

Even if you don't believe me at all about the scent eliminator, another good use for it, albeit stupidly expensive is it works as a quick save. When you use the item it quick saves lol. So if you ever get annoyed by exiting to menu and it taking you to another tent other than the one you just fast traveled to, use the spray and it won't. lol.

Keep in mind, it's not 100% scent elimination in spite of of the name. It's scent reduction. It's not going to completely eliminate the wind and let you sneak right up on animals. It helps though.

Think of it like the noise reduction, and visibility reduction perks.

One other thing I was going to mention is that another reason you may not be seeing much effectiveness from the scent eliminator spray is the species you're hunting. Some detect scent better than others. So it's reduction will vary between species. For example, go test it on like a moose or some dumb deer like a Sika female with low level AI. Then go test it on a cat species like the perfect one and probably closest to Haggis would be a Snow Leopard.

I'd say more shooters, for respawns. If each one is 20% of the male population HM'ing them 40% with 2 zones the other 3 should theoretically respawn bigger.

I lost my very first ever SR to a game crash. Was when Bears were still at night, so not sure if it was a cinnamon or blonde, but definitely rare. It was a guaranteed estimate. Heart shot it and dropped it on the spot. Went to travel to my pickup tent and the game crashed so I didn't get to harvest it(so poof gone). I was at least 150 kills into that session and last backup save was like 2 months earlier. Since then I backup to cloud every 100 kills. Before and after every big trophy. Also after every session. I also make a secondary backup on a thumb drive about once every week lol.

I'm honestly not a huge fan of albinos, so was a little bit disappointed that my first and only SR(that wasn't lost) was an albino. However I did get a lvl 8 Mela Tiger shortly after which was my most wanted fur. I've got pretty much all the tiger furs.
