I had to have a break from Haggis. I'm just wandering around all of my other maps looking for initial spawn dimes and rares that I may have missed on my first run through on all of them. I have all of my maps unlocked and missions done. I spent like a week or two about a year and a half ago unlocking all of them and searching for initial spawns.

The last word on the key change means Red king so the message on the key ring says return me to the red king only red thing here are the Red deer and the red grouse so try to hunt them two species at same time

Let’s try this they did say it was a hole new way to spawn a animal different from why they have used before so let’s try shooting a red deer or sika dear leave it laying there and set up a tripod or ground blind close by and watch over the deer carcass as it was one of the haggis bait materials needed so maybe a deer deer laying out and waiting for the haggis to come in to feed on it

I honestly think if anything it has to do with Red and Black grouse as that is what has been most common in all of the latest harvest pics provided. Although I don't believe it has anything to do with any of them.

That and also Red Deer were in the bait recipe from the Haggis mission.

So surely by now with 24 we would have been able to tie some commonalities and haven't been able to.

At this point...the map and info I made sheet has 99% of the information on Haggis we've gathered as a community. The only thing that we're missing is what actually spawns the Haggis initially(New spawn mechanic) which we will NEVER find out from the devs.

What Ben said yesterday, along with another being found while on Mission #3, basically confirms that the best way to find them are to at least complete Mission #2 to be safe and hunt the upper 2/3 of the map above the waterline. We're making things too complicated trying to figure out a spawn mechanic we'll never know.

So there's honestly no point in focusing on it anymore. Step 1: Do misson #2. Step 2: Thoroughly search the upper 2/3 of the map above the waterline. If you want a haggis. This is what you do lol.

I think more of crossing the border(yellow lines), or waterline into the northern part of the map where they have been all found. That's why people who haven't done missions(supposedly) have found them...even if they were mistaken if you do Mission #2 and head north that's how ya get it.

I don't at all...but another one yesterday was on Mission #3 when they found it. So again....we're NEVER going to be told if we're even right on the spawning mechanic. We're driving ourselves crazy on trying to figure it out. My map has 99% of the information on Haggis outside of that. Safest bet is do Mission #2 and start your search.

Mission #2 takes you to where it is though. All of the missions just provide clues imho. That's how it's tied to missions.

Nope, always sunny days. So the only thing that could POSSIBLY be tied in there would be them using the badger holes or the Piper's pit and hiding during rain. It's possible, and wouldn't rule it out but I doubt it.

Updated maps with #24 found by @oblique lance. Whom was on Mission #3 when it was found. I truly believe we're overthinking this and need to stop focusing on WHAT spawns it in. Everything that has been in common between all finds is Mission #2 being completed(some unconfirmed without), and searching the northern 2/3 of the map. All other information for them is on these maps. @eager breach please pin. 🙏

Nope, but their sense of smell is their only strong sense. Their hearing and sight is bad(as reported by Mel). One person was even riding a quad when they spotted it lol.

You have to circle south to get down to the beach, then head north along the beach. You can't get into the first entrance to the cave. It's exit only(lol). Go to the second northern entrance to the cave.

I'm at 134 hours. With what Ben said yesterday...and with #23 being on mission #3 when they found theirs. As long as you've done at least mission 2 and are searching using my map's locations. You'll get it eventually with some hard work and luck.

What Ben said gave me hope. I’m sure we’ve done whatever is required to spawn it. The rest is just being in the right place at the right time on a very large map. I have no issue with the rarity of that, the challenge is fun (or insanely good luck for some).

Carry a tent or tripod with you for the wolves and toss it down if they circle you and hop in. They'll flee. That or you can just shoot them all if you prefer, but that'd mean females too.

I've done 7500+ Red Deer grind for my first G1, and a 5409 kills Hirsch Fallow grind. Haggis is a cakewalk lol. Yeah I've gotten some amazing trophies too.

Agreed, I was in huge grinds for my moose and red deer GOs a while back, so having the haggis be as hard as a GO is not a problem, I like it. We need to praise the EW team for giving us fun stuff like this.

Doing grinds at least you get trophies along the way, but you also kinda do if you're hunting while searching Haggis. Just not as frequently as a grind. PLUS if you do get a Haggis, it's rarer than everyone's G1's. 😉

This conversation does give me a chance to showoff and brag though lol. 5409 Hirsch Fallow grind. One of the toughest grinds in the game. It paid off though, as I got the biggest Fallow I've ever seen posted, and got the exact combo I wanted. 😉

1.8k isn't bad at all honestly. Anything under 2.5k is considered a short grind. That's the averaged grind number across all species.

I can’t really brag about my GOs, I only have 4 of the species completed so far (whitetail, red deer, moose, fallow) and then I got way behind.

However, I do have 149/160 of the Steam Achievements completed (I play on PC).

I've got a WT, Fallow, Bear, Red Deer, and Wolf. Got my grinds still setup on all of them though, and have grinds setup or active for all of the other species. I'm at 1900 even for Mulies right now, and 1050 for Moose.

HM is easy. In short if it's an animal that goes to lvl 9, leave 5's or 4's and shoot everything above. Goes to lvl 5, leave 2's and below. Goes to level 3, leave small 2's and 1's. Setup 16 tents on your best zones with at least 2m and 2f. Shoot the 2 biggest males at each one until you get big ones stacked. Then go shoot down all zones that you don't want as your main zones. When they're shot down pull tents for pickup tents and only shoot on 8-10 zones.

Leave small solos, and if they're big solos, shoot them and find their new zone until they're small or join a herd.

Simple. Just shoot both male and female for respawns. Try and setup on pairs with the biggest males on your map. The NW corner is apparently a really good sort of spawn trap for them.

If you're not worried about HM, you can literally shoot every fox on your map since you have to shoot both male and females in the zones to get consistent respawns.

Just my opinion here, but I do not believe that has anything to do with it. The coding that would be required to have constant "if/then" statements running in the background based on the direction your character is walking would be quite the spawn mechanic. I think that whole thing was a hint so that we would look around the base of hills, regardless of the direction WE were walking. But that's just me talking.

I’ve only gotten one diamond, which was from three days back when I first bought the dlc and it was a black grouse, I shot it and thought it was a gold so I claimed it and backed out and saw the diamond logo out of the corner of my eye. So I had to fast travel to the lodge to tax it 😂🥲

You have to own the DLC of the dog you want the secondary skill from. So for example if you have the Bloodhound and want it to also retrieve class 1 animals like the retriever you also need to own the Retriever DLC

What I wish I knew is, if the haggis is on your map, what does it “do” while you haven’t found it?

• does it stay fairly still, looking like a rock on the hillside?
• how far does it travel to a feed zone?
• does it have one feed zone, or rotate through the times?
• does it actually walk around the hills in a clockwise/counterclockwise route all day?
• will it make a warning call if I’m close to it?

When it's feeding yes. Not far between feed zones from what Mel observed. Rotates through times, but can have multiple times on a feed zone. Don't think it does wander around the hills, just back and forth between feed zones. Yes it will make a warning or flee call if you spook it, but it mostly will only spook from smell, not sight or sound unless you're close.

I didn't keep exact track like I do now, but my shortest was roughly 2 days and 300 kills for WT right after shooting down my stacked lvl 3's. Then 680 for Wolves was my second shortest. All others have been long lol. 2550ish for bears(after 3 pop resets so more like 5K), 7.5k-8k for Red Deer. 5409 for Hirsch Fallow. Don't have the next two which are 1900 currently on Mulies, and 1050 on Moose.

I always mark all my maps when I'm searching zones for a grind. EC might have more, but I doubt it. This was my initial locations for every single fallow on my Hirsch.

Go for it. Change of scenery. I recommend 06:00-10:00 hunting woodcocks, and picking up every track and zone you can find. You'll get almost every animal Hog, Fallow, Pheasant, Woodcock, Mink, Marten, *Badgers on your map just hunting woodock that way.

It has 2 parts of Scotland the Brave as it's warning call. The screech second noise is unconfirmed but is probably the mating call as we have no audio from it. Mel said she couldn't get it recorded because it made no noise when it did it's mating call.

I have this over on my server, don't remember where I got it exactly. The neck shot once you get used to it is incredible. Puts them down instantly, but the lung is quick with the 300. With the Arzyna I'll usally pop them twice in the lung and they go down quick. I can neck shot them most of the time now though.

Yeah you gotta get the pointer up which is super easy to do on Scotland. Birds are really good for it. You can get xp for searching and finding, then letting them sneak up and point, then use flush.

Absolutely. Pointer and Bloodhound are super valuable. Retriever, not so much but I have all 3.

Pointer with Tracker as secondary is my favorite. Pointer moves way faster than the bloodhound, and works every bit as good as the maxed bloodhound at tracking right off the bat before even leveling it's secondary.

The Retriever/Pointer is a beast for birds.

Tracker is the most useful tbh...but doesn't have good perks. The best overall imho is Pointer/Tracker. Instead of having the dog bring the birds to you. You point them, flush them, Blast them, Track them.
