i'm certain it literally isn't on the map or in the files until a certain point, alike great ones, how their initial spawns were removed because people were just resetting their files until they found one .. i hope it's super duper tucked away with it's spawn mechanic as it would be such a shame if it was found out via someone just cheatin

Yeah I agree. I think it's something stupid silly that we'll never guess though. I don't even think it's the #2 mission thing everyone is hung up on. I think missions only give clues. It's something literally like, traveling into the upper 2/3 of the map or something.

i think it's gotta respawn off another animal .. because ben has said that it's a mechanic unlike any other ,, with mission animals,, their spawns have been via missions being completed so it can't be purely off of completing missing #2? right

It's possible but unlikely imho. Some people have not done missions, been 30 minutes into the map, barely shot anything and just had it pop up.

6-10 seems like a great time on 90% of the map to just find trophies in general anywhere.

All good lol. I'm still....hunting haggis. 96.5 hours. I just honestly don't think mine is spawned in. With the way I've systematically searched now, surely I would've found it. Not giving up yet, but it's getting frustrating not knowing if I've spent 100 hours of my life hunting something that isn't even on my map.

One thing I haven't tried other than when I first started searching for them was the northern part of Pinegate though...none have been found there, but it's highlands. Maybe I should check it.

That and maybe even some of the hills in An Cul.

Nothing I can think of makes sense for a spawn mechanic that would fit for the info that everyone that has found one has given

The only thing connecting most of them is them going through the missions and some random overlapping kills

I think it's possible. Judging by where they've been found it's almost a perfect circle. It could be a larger circle though and gover into An Cul and Pinegate though. Light blue being possible areas. But if you look at the crude circle I just drew on it...I dunno seems like they're staying in that circular path....ALMOST LIKE A CLOCK.

Remember though, I grid searched the Haggis early on....the entire top of the map, and before that was finding all of my zones in the south while searching woodcock.

I'm about to hop back on and try searching An Cul and Pinegate highland regions. Haven't searched them since I first started since we have most in the same areas outside of those regions. I used a method of Fishless Cyling on all of mine, using pure ammonia with no surfactants, and seeded beneficial bacteria. You were able to cycle them without ever harming any fish.

Yeah, I definitely have a love/hate relationship with martens. Mink are easy. Just go hunt the marsh at night. They swim slower than they run.

I'll try to explain again, so those feed zones that are found once they shoot the animal the zones disappear. Those feed zones will be inside the circles they've been shot at on my map. So essentially those ranges are where they've been spotted in their feed zones and killed.

Yeah, they're the same as other animals in a lot of their mechanics, but there being only 1 at a time makes them basically impossible to figure out how they spawn, and where they will spawn in.

Would be awesome if they multiplied or something when you shot them since they can't breed. Or if you leave them on your map they spawn in more. So eventually you get a population of them.

I still think it's one of a few things. It could actually be finishing Mission #2, which IS this Haggis mission and leads you into Haggis regions, and across the waterline. That or just crossing into the Haggis region over a border triggers it because people have gotten them without missions. The only other thing I can think of is either killing grouse or deer as that's something most people who have gotten them have in common.

Yeah, I made this ghetto map earlier with the light blue circles being potential highlands regions in Pinegate and An Cul. The crappy circle around the known spots seems to be where they most likely are though.

I'm in the middle blue circle right now. Just did the top one.

I'm going to remake that map and make it cleaner at some point. I wanted to get a few more found before doing so though. That's one I just made so we can search until we know more.

There's been a confirmed 02:00-04:00 time zone along with the new one Mel said, so it's pretty much confirmed they eat all day and night in 2 hour windows. Also that they have home ranges and don't travel far to their next feed zone. Sometimes having 2 different times on the same feed zone.

We honestly basically know every single little detail about them now, other than what initally spawns them onto the map.

The end of it leads you over the waterline that is in Haggis territory, I don't recall if it actally takes you into the Heighrig region though.

That the guy in hole was actually the Haggis or something. Not sure what the keychain actually has to do with it. Really odd thing to put in there to throw down to him. Must have some significance or clue. The bagpipes from that mission I don't believe are playing "Scotland the Brave" which is what the Haggis' warning call actually is.

So after searching all of Pinegate last night and An Cul today....I don't feel like this is the same Highlands terrain at all or even that the Haggis could be here. Maybe a little bit of the Northern Pinegate, but honestly not there either. I still believe searching the Yellow circles in this map at any time of day or night is going to be the best bet. I searched all 3 of those light blue circles.

Absolutely...I translate this as it's easy to spawn in, you basically don't have to do anything but play the game and travel to the highlands. The spawn mechanic is what is impossible figure out.

The rest of the easy stuff is what we already have figured out. Literally everything else about them.

heres what i think. it doesnt need missions. it spawns after a certain trigger we dont know . it spawns randomly in a location and doesnt move that much. so its just a case of finding the area and zone .

It's the same as every animal in mechanics other than it's spawn. It works like tigers imho with home ranges. The only thing kinda unique about it, is it has insane sense of smell but terrible hearing and sight.

VERY INTERESTING! I just went to this exact location and got the clicking noise that has been mentioned before. It is 10000000% not a nest of eggs being raided. More like either a gun being cocked, or a chest being opened. Didn't hear the gunshot, but funny that I heard something in exactly the same spot!

Not really lol. I guess in a way. Grind is more finding every single one of their zones, and shooting 1-2 of the biggest males from each zone to get something big to spawn in.

It would be essentially considered minimum herd management. Which is honestly something I suggest doing period. Always leave the smallest of anything you shoot. Whether roaming, grinding, or sitting in one spot calling stuff in. Only shooting the biggest animals makes the overall average of your animals on the map be small. Which the game compensates for by spawning in larger animals and potentially diamonds. That's just a simple explanation of HM. There's a lot more to it, but that's basically it.

I've had males come back to the same zone on Salz after only shooting all the males out of it, but it was like weeks later after shooting hundreds of other animals on the map. 100% positive the same flock. I don't believe you must kill them for respawns it's just an insanely long respawn timer if you don't.

Regardless, it's easier just to kill the whole flock. 🤷

I think I might have found something to do with the time part of the riddle, possibly. I’ve been searching all of the outposts I have unlocked so far for clues, and in most of the outposts there’s clocks that show the in game time and they move but I keep seeing a clock that says quartz on it that’s stuck but I’m not sure the time cause the hands seems off. I’ve seen this clock in a a couple of the outposts not all of them but in the main castle outpost there are several scattered around.

I don’t see how that’ll make it happen. How does the game know you’ve “started” that move? Do you go around the bottom? How do you know if you’re circling it enough? How does the game know you’re done? If it qualifies, where will the haggis show up? I see too many variables to that.

I’ve walked every direction around my mountains and down in the valleys. I’ve discovered hundreds of zones. I’ve hunted all times of day. I’ve harvested a gold or higher of every species on the map. I’ve completed all the missions. And still, haven’t been lucky enough to locate it yet with any theory.
